Nellie Bennett is Losing a Great Teacher
By Emily Gencarelli- Age 8
Nellie Bennett Elementary School is losing a great teacher this year. Mrs. Hilary Feinberg will be retiring at the end of this year. Mrs. Feinberg is a first grade teacher at Nellie Bennett. She has been teaching in Point Pleasant for 38 years, starting in 1972 with her first 5 years being at Ocean Road Elementary School. In 1976 my Mom had Mrs. Feinberg for first grade at Ocean Road School. She still says Mrs. Feinberg was her favorite teacher ever! Luckily for my brother Vincent, he had Mrs. Feinberg for first grade too at Nellie Bennett. He loved her too!
When I asked Mrs. Feinberg what her favorite part of teaching was she said “being with the children”. She said she wanted to be a teacher because she “always loved being with children and loved to introduce new ideas”.
Mrs. Feinberg is married and has five children of her own.She said that she plans on reading, exercising, traveling, writing books, going to the beach and spending time with her family and friends is how she plans to spend her retirement.
What she will remember most about teaching is how lucky she was to have a career that she loved at Nellie Bennett. I think Nellie Bennett was super lucky to have her! Mrs. Feinberg is helpful, nice, caring and is always happy to everyone. She always is smiling! Through the years she has inspired and touched so many of us kids and it will always be remembered. We will all be happy for her but sad to see her go. When I asked her if she will miss Nellie Bennett she said “totally and absolutely!” We will always love Mrs. Hilary Feinberg!
