Seven Ocean County salons are joining together to take a stand against domestic violence in our community throughout the month of May with Cut-a-Thon fundraisers in honor of Mother’s Day. Employees of the salons will be donating their time and proceeds from the events will go to Providence House Domestic Violence Services (PHDVS) of Catholic Charities to assist victims of domestic abuse in Ocean County.
The Cut-a-Thons will be held on the following dates:
Sunday, May 6th at Roots Hair Lounge, 1743 Route 88 in Brick, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Haircuts with a shampoo will cost $20 and $10 additional for a blow dry. No appointments necessary.
Cut Loose Hair Design, 752 Mantoloking Road in Brick, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Haircuts are $10 and appointments are recommended by calling the salon at (732) 262-9283.
Saturday, May 12th at Shear Inspirations, 1808 Route 37 East in Toms River, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Dry hair cuts are $10 and walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are recommended by calling the salon at (732) 270–1026.
Sunday, May 20th
Dazzlz Spa Salon, 912 West Bay Avenue in Barnegat, 10 a.m.to 4 p.m. The salon will also be collecting shampoo, conditioner, diapers, baby wipes, diaper cream, toilet paper and paper towels for the women and children staying at the PHDVS emergency Safe House. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are recommended by calling the salon at (609) 698-2277.

Aqua Bleu Salon located at 1406 South Long Beach Boulevard in Ship Bottom and Donna Hair Salon located at 17 Veeder Lane in Bayville will be ending the month by hosting their Cut-a-Thons at the end of May. The dates will be announced.
PHDVS has provided comprehensive services for victims of domestic abuse and their children for over 25 years, all free of charge. PHDVS assists victims of domestic abuse and their children with an array of services such as: emergency shelter, a 24 hour hotline, counseling services, a comprehensive children’s program, a parenting education program and a program specifically designed to assist victims age 50 and older. These services are offered free of charge and are invaluable to victims and their children who are struggling to break free from the violence in their homes.
