Sounds like Reid and Cortes want to carry out the will of the people. I like that.

As usual moffett has put businesses ahead of residents. The business owners in PPB need to stop riding on the residents backs. I see many healthy shore communities that due quite well with the massive tax revenues they collect. Stop worrying about stiirino and all the other money mongers who put money before people. The non-capitalization of the names was intentional.

And Tom Davis wants stable taxes? Really? Is that why he and Kris Tooker and Dave Cavagnaro and the rest of the "independents" keep appealing their taxes and getting reductions further pushing the burden on their neighbors? These "independents" lead by Barrella,Corbally, hot head Gordon and a couple misfits that live on Atlantic ave have one goal and that is keep raising taxes and support the employee's salaries. They just hired Kris Tooker's boyfriends sister to a big job so what about the taxpayers? Why wasn't that hiring a headline Ms DiStephan?

Maybe I'll vote for you. Probably I won't. The voters were quite clear on OUR opinion of the parking scam. The Mayor and Council of District 4 just decided to go ahead and implement it anyhow. After all, silly voters, what do they know? We'll just go ahead and do what we please. THEY (the ones who voted in favor of the scam) should be paying for the lawsuits, not the rest of us.

Only one council member that voted for the plan currently lives in the fourth!

I live in district 4. No one's knocked on my door and asked me what I think of the parking plan. I am hugely disappointed to hear this. They may have just lost my vote. The parking plan had NOTHING to do with anything. Ask your mayor how many times beer bottles were left on the sidewalk in front of his home this summer. If it was quieter, the police deserve the merit, not the parking plan. People, take a look at a map please. Take a look at exactly where district 4 is and exactly what residences and businesses lie in it. Then take a good look at the tiny area of D4 that borders the boardwalk area near Jenks and Martells. The D4 parking plan is ridiculous and affects far too many that have nothing to do with the boardwalk.

D4 Resident, I think it's great that you posted your opinion about the parking plan here. It's fairly obvious that the Barrella bloc set this up to be a campaign issue for November. Corbally's letter in the Ocean Star made that pretty clear. We know that Corbally isn't interested in hearing what the voters really think. After all, it was Corbally who put the townwide question on the ballot last November, then ignored the results by breaking the results up into a district issue. Did Corbally put it back on the ballot this year? Nope. Instead, in his letter, he accused others of being divisive. Huh? He's the one who decided to divide up the results of the ballot question, right? Here's what I find interesting about this article: Note Davis' comments about the parking plan. We know that Corbally is supporting Davis. Corbally put out that postcard mailer! And, Corbally said in his OS letter not to vote for any candidate who won't support the parking plan. But, read Davis' response. He's not committing to the parking plan, either. He wants to analzye data first. Why is Davis backing off of a commitment to the parking plan?

The truth is...it doesn't matter where any of these candidates stand on the parking plan. This year's plan was put in by Corbally, Tooker, Gordon and Barrella. All 4 will still be there next year. IF THEY WANT ANOTHER PLAN, THEN WE'RE GOING TO GET IT. Pay attention! The Independents have 2 goals this November. 1. To get Davis elected to form a super-majority on the Council and 2. To gather data for next year's election. Tooker and Corbally's seats are up next year. Barrella needs his bloc. If either Tooker or Corbally want to win next year, then Barrella needs Davis there to take the "heat" off of them when it comes to tough decisions. Barrella would still be able to get his agenda complete with Davis' vote. Plus, Davis on Council makes next year's election less troublesome for Barrella because he would only need to win one of the Council seats in order to keep his bloc. The PPB voters are being told very little about Davis. Instead, they are being blasted with negative campaign material. This is about gathering data...finding out what works for next year. Can they sell Davis, a virtual nobody without even providing the PPB voters with much information about Davis, simply through negative campaigning? If so, then they could get anybody elected, right?

You coulda came to candidates night to meet him.... That about covers it. As to being "blasted with negative campaign material." That one is so bogus, it will pass w/o comment. Hope I was able to clarify these matters.

Hi Spooner- Your posts about Tom Davis tax issues were deleted by the Patch for the same reasons you have been sanctioned by the Patch on other occasions- factual errors and pure misinformation. Mr. Davis has provided the facts of the matter in his 11:15PM post on Sunday. The truth will set you free my man. Try it, just once.

To Denise D. - you may want to check Spooner's 1:31 PM entry. He has accused the tax assessor in Point Beach of committing official misconduct. This is libel as you well know. How long is The Patch going to let this guy post?

Mr. Davis, I didn't realize that it was my "job" to go and find the truth, especially when it comes to a candidate trying to persuade voters to vote for him. But, let me be more specific. A few weeks ago, your campaign committee sent out your first campaign mailer to the entire town. The front side of the mailer is all about how bad the local party clubs are. Have you even been a member of those clubs? That's your intro to our town...that you think the local party clubs are these evil entities who "exist only to serve those who control them". Now, you do have a nice photo on that front page, but I have no idea who is in that photo. Is that your campaign team? Your family? On the second page, more garbage about the parties. You do say that you grew up in a town that is "as different from a beach resort community as can be." As for your "plan" contained on page 2, basically you suggest that we should evaluate our Master Plan (isn't that the Planning Board's job?), you imply that you're disappointed that we won't be able to get a cap waiver and must look for "efficiencies" and that you're not happy with the shared court services plan. This was your intro to the voters of PPB, which you spent money to do. You have experienced campaign managers, Tooker and Walsh, running your campaign, & your first piece of literature doesn't tell us anything really about you. Just how bad everyone else is. The endorsement piece from Corbally isn't any different.

D4 was quieter at night this last summer. That calmer atmosphere is probably due to both the Parking Plan and the increased Police Presence. Regardless most of the D4er's I spoke to think that it was a good thing. There was also better parking options for renters especially in the Bungalow section.

Does it need to be adjusted?

It helped that is was a one year plan, so that adjustment can be incorporated!

Should the one year D4 Parking plan be made permanent?

Most of my neighbors thinks so!

Should it be extended outside district 4 ?

Yes, on a street by street basis, if those residents ask for it!

They could easily petetion for it!

The parking plan is working in D4 in more ways then one even though a few will not admit it. D3 is getting more tourist parking in their area. You would think most would want the parking plan expanded in D3. It will not effect the tourist in anyway, being the parking plan is not until later...The bar crowd only, which is a deal because they will be getting parking free in the lot.. They should make it free from 10PM to 6am, families are not coming out at 10 to go to the boardwalk, most are leaving by then with the exception of a few on special dates at July 4th, Labor Day...If the ones who are there and stay later, so they are already parked. Those who come 10 and after are going to the bars and the parking is free...everyone wins. If they are in the parking lot, it is easier, less police should be needed, they are all going to one area at the end of the night...End of story!
