Bay Head: Stay Out of Town

Some going around police barricades

Bay Head emergency and police officials are mandating that everyone stay out of town.

The town has been under a mandatory evacuation order since Sunday, yet some people have been driving around the barricades leading into town, said Kelley Jean Mickle, Bay Head Deputy Emergency management Officer.

The situation in Bay Head, like many surrounding areas, is dire and police need to keep people out, Mickle said.

"We have power out throughout the entire town, the ocean has breached every side street from Osborne to Bridge and other street ends south, with waves breaking onto Route 35," Mickle said. "We have a tree blocking the roadway on Bridge Avenue and Holly Avenue with live wires. There is major flooding throughout the entire town."
