Point Boro girls varsity basketball beat Middle Township 54-38 on Wednesday night and heads to the state finals.

Point Boro (22-8) beat Middle, the South Jersey Champion, in the Group 2 State Semifinals of the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA) girls tournament at Deptford High School, Gloucester County.

Boro was leading Middle 35 to 18 at the start of the fourth quarter.

Middle did not score in the third quarter.

The team is hoping to keep their winning streak alive on Sunday after also beating Governor Livingston in Berkeley Heights on Saturday night and Summit High School on Monday night.

Boro is scheduled to play Newark's Shabazz at 2 p.m. Sunday at Pine Belt Arena, Toms River.

The triumph over Summit clinched the third straight Sectional Championship for the Boro, which won the South Jersey Group 2 title last year and the South Jersey Group 3 crown in 2010.
