Brick Man Indicted on Point Boro Cop Assault Charge

Grand juries hand up indictments

A Brick man has been indicted on charges accusing him of violence against a Point Pleasant Borough police officer.

Kirk C. Engelken, 31, was indicted by an Ocean County grand jury last week on aggravated assault and resisting arrest charges.

Engelken was arrested Nov. 14 and accused of using force and causing injury to Borough Patrolman Brian Fennessy.

He was initially held on $25,000 bail but posted Nov. 14.

Grand juries also indicted:

  • Matthew F. Rebelo, 23, of Point Borough and Andrew K. White, 23, of Toms River on theft and dealing in stolen property charges.

The pair are accused of stealing a propeller worth more than $500 from a Toms River man Jan. 14 and then selling it in the township that same day.

Rebelo made $10,000 bail Feb. 22, and White was issued a summons.
