Casino Pier, Deconstructing Now; Rebuilding Later

Seaside Heights amusement pier, severely damaged by storm, is updating its progress on Facebook.

It was a sad day for everyone, removing the Fun House's barrel of fun, according to the Casino Pier.

According to Casino Pier: "Facebook Friends, we know this is not the news you want to hear and we are disappointed to report that we have to take the Wild Mouse down. This is imperative to our recovery effort and must be done so we can rebuild. We will keep you updated on all our progress and will try our best to answer any questions you may have."

The image of a Seaside Heights roller coaster sitting in the ocean blue, with waves splashing against its frame, is perhaps the iconic symbol of Hurricane Sandy.

Now Casino Pier's managers want to change the face of the storm's aftermath, creating something that, they believe, is good enough for a holiday card:

Rebuilding.

Here are a collection of photos presented by the Casino Pier on its Facebook page that show how the park is deconstructing its facility so it can then rebuild for the future.

Looking at all of these pictures and reminiscing of all the summers spent on Casino Pier, during my teenage years and now my children's, including the summer of 2012. Never could I imagine the devastation "Sandy" has caused. Here's looking forward to a new year, and an even better Casino Pier.

What a nice picture. Thought it was an "AWFUL" original idea of leaving it in the ocean..... To remind us of the devastation??? This is much better!

they could probably make a few bucks if the auction off some of this stuff. Who knows, a section of roller coaster track, a bumper car along w/ other odds and ends you never know what people would step up to buy.

Thanks for the cleanup and visual. Helps to have progress that we can see rather than read or just hear about. Thanks and love the Christmas Card to all. Merry Christmas and Holiday Cheer to all (in keeping with the situation.)

its so depressing to see the rides I've worked many years ago , laying in the ocean . I was the manager for bobcat enterprises ( Robert tucker ) from 87 to 90 , and Hughes entertainment ( owner of Williams grove ) 90 to 91 ....the entire section of pier that is now gone , was the section where all the ride I managed were ...THE MONSTER , THE DISCO STAR , THE ZIPPER , THE POWER JET , THE BUG HOUSE , I also worked for Eddie patel who was the original owner of the jet star . but I hate to say it , casino pier will never be the same . It's rides like THE JET STAR , POLTERGIST ,THE HIMALAYAH & WATER WORKS that made casino pier what it was , without the memories , casino pier is and eventually will be ..just another over priced benny attraction.
