Chick-Fil-A Restaurant Approved for Brick
Restaurant will be located in Lowe's shopping plaza
Brick's planning board has given its OK for a Chick-Fil-A restaurant to be built in the Lowe's shopping plaza on Route 70 west.
Township Planner Mike Fowler confirmed that the board approved an application to subdivide a piece of the property in the shopping plaza that would allow the restaurant to be built.
"It's on the Lowe's property, in between Lowe's and Raymour and Flanigan," Fowler said.
The restaurant will be set back from Route 70 at approximately the same distance from the highway as the Raymour and Flanigan furniture store, Fowler added.
The restaurant chain has been planning a Brick location for some time. Initial plans before the board from the company date back to 2010, and some tweaks to the plan were made along the way. The restaurant will be conducted as a freestanding building on the newly subdivided lot the board approved.

i am actually crying tears of joy. I have been wishing out loud for a Chick-Fil-A to come to Brick since I moved here 3 years ago. my prayers have been answered! My family and I travel to Howell at least once a week for the best food ever, as a matter of fact my daughter delivered me some last night lol ! I could not have awakened to better news aside from winning the lottery. We welcome Chick-Fil-A to Brick and thank you !!!

How sad that you think this garbage is the best food ever! Do you ever eat out in a real restaruant....one that isn't chain garbage food? You have serious issues if you feel this way about frozen chicken!

It'll be just another building left empty in a few years. What's with all the new building in Brick? Auto Zone & now Chick Fil A(what ever the heck that is)? Aren't there enough storefronts & buildings standing empty already? Why can't these new businesses take over what's already built? ex. Friendly's, WOW, Cost Cutters.....

As long as the new places either replace an old building or on a property like Brick Plaza, I'm all for it. No more knocking down woods for crap that may or may not make it. Chick Fil A will make it. Great place, don't measure by the ones you've seen in the malls, totally different animal.

Speaking of places now gone. Don't know about the rest of you, but during this time of year there is one place in Brick I really miss and that is the General Stores Unlimited that used to be on Brick Blvd. It's been gone for what, almost three or more years and I still miss it. Was a great place for finding gifts, stuff that wasn't in the malls, it was almost like having our own Vermont Country Store, unusual items of all kinds and they went crazy decorating the place for the holidays. I don't even know what's in the building now. Haven't been there since it closed.

Many if the buildings that are left empty can be blamed on greedy landlords, I know of business that were in the same location for years and when their leases came up for renewal the landlords did nothing but look for more money. Kennedy plaza comes to mind its just about empty now, wonder why everyone is leaving. Not everyone there went out of business.

I really miss the General Store too. As far as Chick-fil-a goes, are they going to be cutting down more trees for this? Isn't there enough vacant land/buildings around to use without destroying more woods?

I think new companies coming into Brick should be strongly encouraged to use/rent/buy current vacant properties maybe by using some tax abatements like companies in the Lakewood Indusrial Park have received for re-locating there. We don't really need more NEW retail/commercial buildings going up in town when so many are sitting empty and looking blighted.
@Joe Woolston, after general stores closed, 6th avenue electronics bought and renovated the building and closed after only two years in business there. Recently a halloween costume store briefly rented the property but now once again it's being emptied with no potential buyer/renter lined up. General Stores was truly a inique store but as the owner wanted to retire, his children/family did not want to continue the business. Very sad......

For all those crying about how businesses should use existing store fronts, maybe there is a reason they are vacant. High rent, parking and poor location are just some reason why some locations are better then other. That area of 70 is hot right now, not surprised they picked that location.

I went to the Christmas Tree/Costco shopping plaza today and absolutely never ever saw a debacle as witnessed in that poorly planned and insufficient parking lot. It isn't even funny with these big box nightmares anymore.

Lee, I would not mind a White Castle but that's a company that does not spread itself thin like the ever present Dunkin Dounuts. I helped some friends take displays out of the old General Stores that they bought when it went out of business it was sad to see it being sold off piece by piece.

I heard from a coworker of mine that Buffalo Hot Wings is also coming to Brick. She knows because she also works for them. I contacted them thru their website to ask when and exactly where in Brick. They wouldn't say where but said that the new restaurant was tentatively scheduled to open in July 2012. So, I guess we'll see. By the way, I think 6th Ave. Electronics took over the General Store on Brick Blvd. and they have already closed up.

So where is it, 7/26/2012. Some job, planning board. Buffalo Wild Wings, up and running. Quaker Steak and Lube, in the process. Could it be recent comments by company owners have anything to do with it being stalled? Just wondering.

Why would you blame a planning board for a restaurant not being built after the planning board approved it?
Shouldn't you be blaming the restaurant?
