Coastal Storm on the Way; Ocean County Escapes Winter Storm Watch

Total snowfall depends on track of the storm

Ocean County escaped a Winter Storm Watch that is in effect for neighboring Monmouth County, however forecasters are still predicting a strong coastal storm will affect the region later this week.

According to the National Weather Service, the storm will likely develop near the Carolinas during the day Thursday and work its way to our area through Friday night. The storm will likely bring a mix of potential snow, sleet and rain as it moves on its path.

The amount of snow could vary depending on the track and speed of the storm but the most recent forecast predicts between 2 and 6 inches in Ocean County. The heaviest snow will likely fall in northwestern New Jersey and into the Poconos according to the watch.

The concern in the Shore area, however, isn't the snow.

A Storm Watch is in effect for coastal waters from Manasquan Inlet to Little Egg Inlet from Friday afternoon through Saturday afternoon. Wind gusts could reach about 50 m.p.h., though currently only minor tidal flooding is forecast. Offshore wave heights could reach 10 feet.

Is anybody noticing a trend here? This is getting crazy. So sick of stockpiling groceries and worrying about losing power again for 12 days. It is "freaskin'" cold out. I pray to an angry God that we are spared this round.

How far is offshore? Now are we going to put boats at sea on pilings, too?

Will George Gilmore please lobby Mother Nature to stop this Nor'easter from flooding our coastal areas? Oh, the county freeloaders already hired him to do that.

YEP, that's the Ocean County Freeholders... in charge for over thirty years, and they are always TEFLON too. Ocean County voters just keep them in office even when they have to be "propped up" for public appearances because they are too old to sit on their own... but the county residents are the puppets here.
