Evacuees at Point Boro H.S. Are Being Moved to Berkeley Township
High school shelter site just closed down
Those at the shelter at Point Borough High School are being moved to Miller Air Park in Berkeley Township, according to an emergency management official.
The high school shelter was just closed down today and those who are still there and still in need of shelter are being moved to Miller, said Bill Dikun, Borough Office of Emergency Management Coordinator.
If anyone else is in need of emergency shelter, they should go to the Borough police department today or, if it's open tomorrow, Borough Hall, said Nick Costagliola, deputy Emergency Management Coordinator during a brief interview at the Point Boro First Aid headquarters on Beaver Dam Road.
Costagliola said the evacuees at the high school site are being moved because Ocean County emergency and social services are trying to consolidate those who need emergency shelter into one location.
Borough emergency management, police and government officials continue to stress that those who need shelter should try to find a relative or friend to stay with rather than using a public shelter where food and supplies can run low
