The Point Beach Recreation Committee is again running a Family Fishing Night at Loughran's Point on the Manasquan Inlet.
The event, featuring food donated by Longboard Grill, along with raffles, prizes and lots of fishing fun, will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday.
The experts at Alex’s Inlet Bait & Tackle will be on hand for plenty of great fishing and bait tips and will also offer discounts to purchase poles or to rent them for the night.
All Point Beach residents and taxpayers are welcome to attend the event near the Fisherman's Monument, but all are encouraged to walk or bike since parking is extremely limited.
Those participating are not allowed to bring or consume any alcoholic beverages.
See attached PDF for more information.

Having a Recreation Commitee activity that only "taxpayers"and "residents"
of Point Pleasant Beach" can attend, at the busiest tourist sight in town, on a Saturday night,on public land , only reinforces the image that this is Fort Point Pleasant Beach and all other Americans stay out!

Loughran's Point is not "public" land. It is owned and maintained by Point Pleasant Beach tax dollars. Even so, do you really think we would turn away an "out of town" family? Point Pleasant Beach is proud to be a family resort town. Every well-mannered family is welcome...... even non- Americans.

Shame on you Louise -- for such a negative comment on a LOVELY hometown family fun event for the residents and their families. We went to this event last year and my daughter had a wonderful time. It was her first time fishing and we made some beautiful memories from that night. Isn't there enough negativity going on in town -- leave the family fun events put on my the Rec Committee alone.

Kitty has made it clear several times to the town council as well as several others that Reds Lobster Pot only has the summer to make its money and that we should hold these events in the off season or on a weekday..... So that parking is available to your customers. I believe this is your true issue with this event .... Not that it is for residents. The Recreation Commitee is charged with creating recreation events for our residents not for the entire public . Residents do have the right to enjoy their town even in the peak summer months. We can agree to disagree.

Old Guy, Thank You for the response, clarification and truth in reference to what most "taxpayers" and "residents" feel. This is exactly the family image we like. We would not kick out any well-mannered family to this event. @Michael Ramos, Thank You, for the explanation, clarification and the real reason the Stillufsen have a problem... Once again, it is all about me and greed is trying to trump some good family fun... Would she welcome "taxpayers" or "residents" to her restaurant in the winter months... I forgot she is only open in the summer...her choice. @Michael, it should be or you would think that we are able to agree to disagree, as you know first hand, sadly we are not!

As a long time resident of Point Pleasant Beach, I would like to thank the Point Pleasant Beach Recreation Commitee and the Long Board Grill for hosting a fun event this evening. We rode our bikes to this event which was filled with happy children and lots of parents. We are thrilled that our community provides fun events for our beautiful little town.
