I've seen some of the FEMA people at Home Depot. They might be able to advise you on how to make muffins. There are 20 FEMA and SBA people sitting in Belmar borough hall. I'm sure they're useless as tits on a bull. Funny, the government has
plenty of money to p*ss away on these employees.

Tens of thousands of us would also like to have FEMA correct its erroneous flood maps, "overkill" elevations mandates and exorbitant annual insurance costs.

We'll get FEMA to realize the collateral damage it's causing. Come to a meeting Sat. Feb. 23rd, 3-4PM, at 708 Fischer Blvd. (Belly Busters Restaurant), Toms River. Bring your ideas and bring your neighbors. Save the Shore!

We need shirts because FEMA is taking the shirts off our backs!

$100,000 to raise a house or $30,000 per year for insurance premiums (designed to support the FEMA bureaucracy that went into debt after Katrina). FEMA thinks it can get unlimited money from NJ people. Whole neighborhoods will be abandoned! The rest of each town's taxpayers will have to make up for the lost ratables. They'll lose their shirts, too.

The most useful free advice FEMA officials could provide would be accurate flood insurance premium figures for different types of construction at the new elevations, not just the worst case scenario single-story-on-slab figures that have been publicized to make house-raising seem like a bargain.
The rebuilding effort that started out so strong has run into a wall of flood insurance secrecy. The ABFE elevations are probably too high, the V zones are probably too big and the "actuarial" rates FEMA intends to set are probably too high also, but we need our elected officials to get FEMA to correct these larger issues. It is not too much to ask, however, for individual FEMA staffers sent to events like this to be able to tell people what their premiums would be for their type of construction if the ABFE maps do not change. Without this information, which is known to FEMA (they set the rates!), people do not have the information they need to make informed building decisions.

Free advice is useless and so far not a damn dime for homeowners. We live on the western side of the Bay and are already on 10' pilings and did quite well considering and yet fema has rated our house which was built to Outer Banks, NC codes, a class V flood rating. You just can't win with these folks.

One of the tee-shirts starts off with "FEMA is a four letter word."

Excuse the misspelling shown above but go to zazzle and use their search engine for tee shirts. Barnegat and Bays are Not Oceans and NJ shore and "Middle Class" are words or phrases that will get you to the store: llewellynh that has them all. Every penny is going to those of our neighbors who are most in need at the moment.

FEMA has been nothing but a joke. You call and ask about extended rental assistance and get told your SBA loan hasn't gone through so they don't know (OK so what do the oranges and beets have to do with one another). The flood zones are changed with data that is incomplete and not acurate. (The fat man appoved them anyway) This entire agency needs to be overhauled. What a joke...

Our illustrius President when here with Gov Christy said he would make "SURE THE RED TAPE WOULD NOT HINDER REBUILDING THE SHORE AREA" Just as all the time with Obama he tell lie after lie. Remember it will not cost you a dime! Ha I also remember how everyone jumped on Bush in New Orleans however, they had money within three weeks. Needless to say the Mayor and Govenor took a lot of that money and who know what happen to it. But here the northeast that contributes more in tax money to the federal government than the south etc we get a BIT O!

Does anyone know if they (Bayville) will be adjusting the building code as it relates to height. I'm in V zone and if I go up on pilings to AFBE plus freeboard i'm going to be up there pretty high just for the first floor.

We all know what to do and how to rebuild its the insurance companies that don't know how to pay claims. I honestly do not know how they can get away with all this crap. Just pay our damn claims so we can move on. Thats what we have insurance for.

does that also include rebuilding of my break system on my truck? Or anything else effected by salt water?
fema will NOT cover even blue book value on my truck ( which is only worth maybe 4,000) because my wife had a car that we evacuated in & was not flooded ... To answer the questions that will come YES we have insurance on both of the cars but because of the age we have minl. coverage, ( about 1300 a yr ) We OWN our cars so no need to addl. insurance.
The Kicker is If FEMA would help me I could help some many people & would be more then happy to because of the skills I have....
