Freeze Watch in Effect for Overnight Hours

Temperatures expected to drop

If you've already put away your winter coat for the season, it's time to dig it out of the closet.

The National Weather Service has issued a freeze watch covering the overnight hours for the entire region, including both Ocean and Monmouth counties.

Temperatures are expected to drop in the upper 20s to around 30 overnight, according to a report from the NWS office in Mount Holly.

Along the coast, the temperature is forecast to hover right around the 30 degree mark.

"Due to an unusually warm winter and early spring, the growing season has begun around the region," the watch statement said. "Any vegetation susceptible to freezing temperatures over a period of three or more hours would be at risk."

The warning will go into effect at 3 a.m. Tuesday and end at 9 a.m.
