Girlfriend Jailed in Stabbing of Lavallette man
Michael Reale listed in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries
A Lavallette man is in stable condition and his girlfriend is in the Ocean County Jail on assault charges, after he was stabbed in the abdomen early Sunday morning, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.
Shortly after midnight, Lavallette police responded to a 911 call at 2302 Grand Central Avenue Unit B and found Michael J. Reale with a stab wound to the abdomen, according to Det. Michael Mohel of the prosecutor’s office.
Reale was taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River then transferred to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, Mohel said. His wounds do not appear to be life-threatening, Mohel said.
Jennifer Mastropietro, whom Mohel said was identified as Reale’s girlfriend, was arrested and charged with second-degree aggravated assault and taken to the Ocean County Jail in Toms River. Bail information was unavailable Sunday afternoon.
Information on the incident, including what precipitated the assault, was sketchy on Sunday afternoon, Mohel said, as the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office and Lavallette police continue to investigate.
Ages for neither Reale nor Mastropietro were available, but property records from the Ocean County Clerk’s office show Reale, who has a home in Monroe, N.Y., purchased the condominium in April. Internet records referencing the address report he is 50 years old. Deed information from the Ocean County Clerk’s Office records lists it as a second home.
