After being publicly ridiculed by several municipalities in its statewide coverage area regarding its response to Hurricane Irene, Jersey Central Power and Light has attempted to revamp its communication methods and has pledged to invest $200 million for infrastructure repairs.

Town by town report of when JCP&L expects to have power restored. But the nor'easter may hamper efforts.

There are currently 28,176 JCP&L customers without power in Ocean County and 45,836 without power in Monmouth County, according to an update on the JCP&L website.

Those numbers change constantly as crews continue to work on outages throughout the region. However, the nor'easter starting to move into the area may cause new outages as well as coastal flooding, according to the National Weather Service.

JCP&L, in a prepared statement, says:

"Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L) has restored power to more than 900,000 of the 1.2 million JCP&L customers affected by Hurricane Sandy, marking five consecutive days where crews have restored at least 100,000 customers per day.

While restoration continues, JCP&L is preparing for a Nor'easter that is expected to arrive Wednesday with high winds and heavy rain. Crews already in place will continue to work through the storm as safety permits.

About 250,000 of JCP&L's customers remain without power, most of whom live in Morris, Monmouth and Ocean counties. The vast majority of customers will be restored by Wednesday, Nov. 7. Customers in harder-hit areas can expect to be restored throughout the coming week.

Many JCP&L customers along the barrier islands and coastal towns of Monmouth and Ocean counties, and other areas that are unsafe to energize, cannot be completely restored because of severe damage to homes, businesses, roads and infrastructure."

To see a JCP&L report that has projected times for restoration in particular towns, see attached PDF, look first for your county and then your town.

JCP&L's chart for outages in the state by county:

*The number of restored outages on this chart may exceed the number of customers served because customers may lose power multiple times.

By county is useless. Need more estimated repair times on a micro level. My parents who are in their 80s are refusing to leave their home because every day, they are told they will have power the next day.

Shelly, the attached PDF has town by town projections. You can also go on JCP&L website and check info. there or you can call them. I don't have a way of providing more specific info. beyond what they are providing. I'm sorry your parents, and so many thousands, are experiencing this.

Does anyone have a number to call JCP&L that actually gets through to a live person? Almost every house around me has had power for over 4 days. Everyday, I've been notifying JCP&L of my home's outage via their automated phone line: 888-544-4877. It seems to be a futile effort.

The jcp&l projections are useless and disingenuous. They are not accountable to anyone and either cannot or will not provide any helpful info that would allow folks to make the necessary decisions about what to do.

I have been following the JCPL updates via the published .PDFs and their website information. I am dismayed by the lack of transparency. For example, the .PDF says that JCPL estimates that "1" customer will be restored in Red Bank today. Simply put, this is insulting as it is an "estimate" and it would make no sense to restore a single customer.

Secondly, the JCPL website map estimates that power will be restored to Red Bank by 11:59 PM, Friday, November 9. Midnight on the 9th - Instead of just November 10th? Thanks guys.

Lastly, the JCPL website map lists "5<" customers without power in Sea Bright and also states that Sea Bright's power will be restored by 11:59 pm, November 9. Clearly, we all know this is not true.

I look forward to the Board of Public Utilities investigation.

Saw a photo today on the weather channel for an "Athena" headline in Tom's River that showed power workers in a bucket covered in snow. Whether or not anyone believes that it is legit or not, I would NOT want to be doing that job even if you paid me six figures to do it. However, if I was unemployed, I might change my mind.

My power been out 11 days now. My block went out before the storm even hit. JCP&L's CEO should be held on criminal charges for his company's performance. From my observations of crews and news reports, JCP&L is an unorganized ill prepared company that should not be trusted withbthenpublics well being. For example. There is a JCP&L SUV that travels up and down my street a couple times a day. I asked the drive why he said to check for downed wires. MY STREET HAS BURRIED WIRES! GOv Christie should handle JCP&L like NY handled LICO on Long Island a few years back. My bill was due the other day and im not paying it til i get my pound of flesh from JCP&L what are they gonna do? Turn off my lights? Im cold. Im tired and sick of the smell of gas from running my generator. I've spend a couple hundred bucks on gas already. I want JCP&L to reimburse me that money too. Mr governor, mr mayor, anyone. HELP US. The homeowners, the families that Rely on you for protection. Governor - get mad and do what do best. Cut through the BS!!!!

He said that all the needed to be done was the fuses to be re-set. I called jcp&l and they could not give me a answer why no one was there to look at the problem.I was told that they are trying to restore the power to local hospitals and fire and police depts. this is not true the electric you use is only a part of your bill. there are other charges included. maybe you should take the time to actually read your bill. Oh and by the way also make sure on your bill they did an ACTUAL reading and not an estimated reading based on your average use the same period of time the year before. I received an insanely high bill a while back, called them on it and was told that the reading was an estimated reading they did not even send someone out to read my meter. When i read them the numbers on my actually meter, I got a $90 credit on my next bill -- that is how much they overcharged based on their lazy "estimated reading. Crooks. You have to request that or you may not get it. so I suggest that everyone check their bills over the next two billing cycles.

I live in Manchester. My power went out on 10/29 @ 1pm. We had about 3 minutes of power on the following day and out again since. I was very patient until about day 7. I rent a home, do not have a generator and its been unbearable at times. I called JCP&L on about day 6 to see if I could get an estimated time. Same answers "they are working around the clock and it should be restored by midnight". This was several days ago. Still no power. Yesterday I drive down route 70 and saw 6 JCP&L trucks parked in a driveway doing NOTHING. So I called. Again "they are working around the clock and they do have the right to an hour lunch". So I explained to the woman on the phone how I have the right to heat, hot water and light being I'm paying for service I'm not receiving. All they can say is "I understand your frustration ma'am ". How about some answers? I have 3 kids, one with asthma who are freezing each night . Today the woman at JCP&L told me "you had several days prior to the storm to make plans to stay somewhere warm. Why didn't you find somewhere to go before it hit?" Are you kidding me? All I want is answers. JCP&L is an incompetent company and way over priced. Its easy for the governor to defend them when its not his kids sitting in a cold dark house. What about defended the people you're supposed to be representing? I just received my monthly bill for $318. Next time someone tells me you get what you pay for I will know its untrue.

like I said on yoru other post. if they do not sent someone out to actually READ your meter, then your bill is based on their estimate - which they base in large part on the history of usage in your home during specific periods since you have been a customer. That is not based on the exact amount you consume. I know because this happened to me when I got a huge bill that was incorrect -- based not on an actual reading but on their lazy estimated reading. Check your facts -- and read your bills.

If your biggest problem is that there is no power, and you decide to behave like a bunch of whiners and babies, you ought to just get a grip. The loudest among you are the ones with the most narcissitic attitudes. You may be used to getting things done immediately, but perhaps there are some situations where what you want cannot be done in an instant. This is not like making Jello. The linemen from all of the companies, both JCP&L and the out of state line crews, are trying to perform restorations safely after a disaster. Protecting those who are in eminent danger has to be a priority. The workers also must protect themselves, because they might be killed instantly if they do not adhere to procedures. I grew up without a furnace, indoor bathroom, running hot water etc for the 20 years I lived in Allenwood. We had snow so deep that the snowplow got stuck on our road. Snow came into the cracks of my brothers' bedrooms if the wind was right, and formed a mini snowdrift. We had no phone service. The experience taught me to weather adversity, and to thank those that reached out a hand to help. Ask for help if you need it from all of the resources available to you. So many have lost so much and may never have a return to normalcy.

Hey grandma. No ones blaming the lineman its the fat bloated CEO and managers that care more about controlling costs then getting power back on. I serve my community as a volunteer member of 2 first aid squads. I have 8 people including seniors trying to stay warm and fed in my house right now with only a fireplace to keep them warm. One lady who is over 85 was out of oxygen for 3 days before anyone called me for help. She's in my bed now breathing oxygen i paid for out of my pocket. Whiner? Narcissistic? How many lives you save today? I've got one inmy bed right now. Everyone has the right to basic needs of life and to receive the services essential to maintain that life. If was complaining about not having cable, thats one thing but heat, hot water, safe lights and oxygen machines are another. Do you have power? Open your doors to people who don't

I'm glad that you are used to no heat, hot water, lights and shivering in the cold. You must feel right at home having no power for over 10 days. Or perhaps you are writing your judgemental post from the comfort of a warm home with lights? Unfortunately, my 1, 5 and 9 year old are used to lights, hot water, hot meals and heat, especially in the middle of a snow storm. And while I appreciate that people are worse off than me ( you can also find someone worse off in any situation) I have a right to express my frustration and vent about the fact that my family has had to shiver in the cold, in the dark, with no hot water and no hot food for 10+ days. That does not mean I am not thankful for what I have. It also doesnt mean that I am going to be happy and accept with a smile the fact that my children are cold. I have donated 4 bags of clothes, over 15 packs of water. I apreciate the workers busting their asses to restore power, but I don't appreciate the lack of communication from JCPL, the fact that even before they have restored full power they are already talking abt having to raise rates to get back the money they have lost (!) and the fact that they have poor infrastruture. People are allowed to vent. I will continue to find ways to help my community during the day and at the same time I will continue to vent until my children's lives return to normal. How is the view from up there on your high horse?

To Grandma From Point Boro I hear you're words loud and clear and i agree with you but when we pay the tax's we pay and such high electric bills etc. we expect better service. JCP&L had all year to fix damaged wires & transformers from the damage that was caused last year from Hurricane Irene but they decided to leave all the splices in all the damaged lines and all the old weathered transformers in place. JCP&L must either fix this old beat up system the correct way and spend the money to put some of the main wires underground to eliminate tree damage "Ha Ha that will never happen". All these people we have in government in this state that sit around and talk about what they are going to do but never do it should demand JCP&L to fix this problem. Sometimes I think they leave all these lines not completely fixed and old weathered transformers because it gives job security and that just means our bills get bigger and bigger

Power out again in Pine Lake Park, Manchester at 9:30 pm Nov 7. Power on 571 out/going out around 11 pm in Manchester, light at 70 dead. Most power all the way up 571 in Jackson to I195 out, but Cassville still seemed to have some. Other trees had fallen during Sandy, now the pines are all falling on power lines/roads. Wasn't any plowing done either, 571 in Jackson looks like a war zone as Nov 8 begins.

It may not be practical to implement competition in the delivery of electrical power - though I agree it'd be good if we could. I suggest the problem lies in JCPL's tariffs (the government-approved regulations under which it operates). The full text is available on their website. In brief, as I read it, JCPL bears virtually no liability for service interruptions. This means JCPL has no incentive to improve its infrastructure, and very limited incentive to restore power - because JCPL balances the cost of restoration against the absence of liability to customers. (It does have some incentive to restore and sell power again, but it can raise rates to make back its lost power sales during the blackout.) I suggest the tariffs be amended to provide a dollar-amount credit for each day the power is out, for each customer ... and no rate increases, for goodness sake.

I wish Christie takes a note of how to deal with the power company executives as Cuomo does. An executive on Long Island diverted a power truck to remove a leaning tree on his property. As soon as Cuomo heard that, the executive was fired!

Lets see Christie take the reins of this situation as Cuomo did. The people first!

Day 11 here. Not complaining that I have no power. complaining that I called JCPL 5 days in a row and explained our situation. Our power lines were ripped from the house. Meter pan on its side, wires still intact. Pole down out front. Their response was "it has been reported". On Monday called again and was told I need to hire an electrician to do the repairs, apply for a permit, have the work inspected and then call us back. Why didn't they tell me that on my first 4 phone calls to Live Representatives? The story never changed, pole down, lines down, meter pan on its side attached to house, wires attached to meter still intact. No one knows company policy or no one wants to tell you what you need to do. I am not complaining about no power, complaining about the incompetence of the employees that are manning the telephone lines. My company policy is the same across the board from town to town, state to state, country to country. I know my companies policies, why doesn't JCPL?

What I'm not clear on is how a town can be without power while those that border it does. I speak of the situation in Manasquan where the houses on the border of Wall and Brielle have power but nothing for the house beside it in Manasquan. Are the transformers that town-specific?

Self employed in Manasquan same location 21+ years. No power 11 days. No revenue. It is difficult to comprehend how some areas of towns are getting power and some aren't. Guess it just depends where you sit on the grid. Whether you have gotten power restored or whether you have not - we are all in the same predicament here folks and need to just try and have some patience while workers try and do their jobs to the best of their abilities. Take control of your own life and stop letting yourself be a victim at the mercy of JCP&L. They didn't conjure up the storm. We are all getting stressed now with the disruption to our every-day lives and routines! Even if your house is still standing and you didn't even get water - it's okay to be mad and frustrated at this situation but then just get over it already and keep a clear perspective. We have to just wait it out. Power will come . . . eventually. Till then I hate to say it but we have no choice but to just suck it up and be thankful for what we do have that is most important. And if you are too busy farting around with your iPhone to know what that is, well, then I just feel sorry for you.

Checked the FEMA website for small business relief and if I interpret correctly, businesses can apply for a loan to keep a them operational. Honestly, the way I feel about this is the people who have been truly devasted should get that relief money - people who no longer have a home and need to completely start over. Two weeks of lost revenue will probably not break us. I have "loss of use" built in to the general liability but power outage is not defined as a cause for loss of use. I think if this goes on much longer without being open, we as the employees can file for unemployment insurance on our lost wages.

lastest JCPL power restoration estimates by town here; https://www.firstenergycorp.com/content/dam/newsroom/files/Town_ETR_Report.pdf
According to this, they estimate to restore only 9 (NINE) homes in my town by saturday. 0 homes today, 9 homes tomorrow, 0 on saturday. ridiculous!

Maybe all you sorry ass cry babies should be thankful you still have a house which will eventually get the power turned back on. There are many people in our area that not only do not have houses but the property they sat on has also been washed away. Be thankful for what you have!!!

and maybe the people who lost homes should stop crying and complaining and be thankful that they are live, since some people died? And maybe people who lost homes should not complain and be thankful that eventually their home will be rebuilt where there are some people don't have insurance to rebuild. By your logic no one should complain about anything because there is always somone else in the world worse off. We should all be happy with smiles on our faces no matter what the situation. People have a right to not be happy about being cold for over 10 days. That is not exclusive to having compassion for those worse off. You are annoying and rude.

Many of the people that have lost all are out helping others rather than sitting and whining. You want to warm up start by warming your heart by getting out and doing something positive for others. A half full glass is always better than half empty.

i have gone out just abotu everyday and worked at the church my my house that is passin out clothes, water, food to people displaced. i have dontated bags of clothes and water as well. I have had no power for 11 days and i am not happy about it, and i vent and complain about it to let off steam at the same time i am out doing what i can. What i am not doing is going on boards calling people who are also suffering and victims of the storm (yes, some suffering more than others - but is it a contest?) "sorry ass cry babies" I don't think i will be taking a lesson in compassion from someone as crude as that. But thanks for the advice.

Lag, I do not think that sending a black piece of paper with your bill instead of paying it is going to impact FirstEnergy, the JCP&L parent company in Ohio. Aim your hostility at the proper target. Consider this too familiar scenario. Buy a company, strip it of it's equipment and assets, and then let the company fail. After disaster strikes, sell the ravaged company off. Someone always walks away with a pocket full of money. Sound like a familiar theme? My family is also assisting those impacted by this, although I do not have anyone sleeping in my bed but me and my husband. My sister in Wall has no power or phone. One friend has had to demolish his home, two are displaced for 8 months from Seaside Park and a nephew has lost his business due to this storm. I got my power back two days ago and yes my home is warm now. I apologize for using the words whiners and babies in my comments. If anyone needs meals, clothing or a place to warm up, the Manasquan Methodist Church has been designated as a FEMA distribution center. It is my understanding that there are trailers specifically to assist folks to be able to wash their laundry and shower, although I don't know where they are. I hope you all get your power and warmth back and return to normal. I may irritate some people but I do not spread rumor as fact nor stir the pot to incite more anger in an already intolerable situation.

It should be a rule that if you have your power back you are not allowed to post here. And if have your power back and are posting here and HAVE THE FREAKING NERVE to chastise people that don't for complaining, you should be banned. From society.

By sending a black piece of paper will let them how fed up we are with their poor response. It's called a protest. Its what gave birth this country. Im sure someone said "what will dumping the tea into the harbor going to do." The people must be heard !

JCPL is the worst! They have tons of crews standing idle since management isnt prepared to handle events of this magnitude. Fordham Drive got power back Sunday, I went out restocked my fridge. Two days later my power went out again (not Nor'easter related) and havent had power since. Someone should be responsible for this! Why can PSEG tell customers where they are, when they will be there, and how long they think it will take.

I really laugh how people here tell other people how to think and how they should respond..Meg your comments is something that I would expect from a dictatorship country..Making rules like you suggest indicates to me you support dictatorship..
