'Jersey Shore' Cast Member Arrested on Disorderly Conduct Charge in Seaside Heights

Deena Cortese disrupted traffic, police say.

A cast member of the Jersey Shore show was arrested this afternoon in Seaside Heights after a police officer saw her appearing intoxicated and disrupting the flow of traffic, Detective Steven Korman said.

Deena Cortese, 25, of New Egypt, was charged with disorderly conduct after the 3:48 p.m. incident, he said.

Cortese and some other Jersey Shore cast members were in Spicy's Mexican Cantina at 500 Boardwalk near the intersection of Sumner Avenue and Ocean Terrace before the incident occurred, he said.

Cortese went outside and started dancing in the middle of the street, disrupting the flow of traffic, he said.

"Patrolman Chris Linnell placed her under arrest," Korman said. "Traffic was building up and the officer had to act, obviously."

I predict this will be the last season that Jersey Shore will be welcomed to film in Seaside. The show is fake, the kids don't realize it and emulate the behavior shown on the show, which doesn't show the repercussions of what really happens if you behave like the cast does, which is jail and big fines. Even Point Pleasant Beach is feeling the effect of the show with people thinking they can act that way in any town with a boardwalk, even to the point of the town closing the bars at midnight. I say, get tough and show these kids the real "Reality Show" of the Jersey Shore with high fines and jail time, to hell with closing the bars at midnight. Get some balls Point!

Hey Barnegat,
Back in the day this would have been true, and may be still a little true for the tiny shore towns, but the Brick, Toms River area has been on self-sustain for years and we don't need the tourist buck anymore like we once did, and it's why the area won't put up with this crap anymore. How would North Jersey feel if we went up there and peed in their malls and took a dump in their parks, all hell would break loose, why should it be different here?

@ Christina, I lived there for 3 years. It's a very scary place. A VERY SCARY PLACE. No one raising a family should live there. I really fell sorry for the family's that do live there because their children never have the same classmates the following year because the mothers on welfare never stay. Hence, difference students every year.

It is called a planned publicity stunt. Just like Snookie and Ronnie getting arrested. They go to court pay a small fine to reduced charge or dropped charge. Mean while, every news paper has story about it. Morepeople flock to Seaside to try and watvh the drunks and then everyone watches the show to see her get arrested.

It is all very well planned out between the shows producers and the town hall and the cops.

Sure, this show brings a bad image to the shore, but all of the teens and 20 somethings who go there now because they think its cool to go check out where the show is filmed bring a lot of money into the town....like it or not. And as long as the show gets the ratings it does and brings in the ad revenue, mtv will never pull the plug.

Agreed. It's not just this show but most 'reality' shows on TV. There is a reality TV show for just about everthing these days. It's like people want to come home from work and then watch hours of other people working. The main reason is that these shows are very cheap. No writers, no set to design, no wardrobe just a camera crew following some obnoxious morons proding them to do or say something stupid. There are no big star salaries to shell out. I understand why there is a reality show about a bug exterminator but will never understand why anyone would want to watch it.

Not for nothing but the news puts stories like this because it gets the response it does. Everyone is complaining they ruined Seaside and why is "the patch" making this headline news well the reality is this headline news has over 60 comments and counting. If they wrote a headline story regarding a good, happy, positive story it probably wouldn't get 5 responses. Yes now I am guilty too. But you all read the article and you are all posting and complaining about the Jersey Shore cast that is why it is still being filmed and they are still acting this way because this attention is what made it famous in the first place. If they acted mature and well majored the show would've stopped before it started and they would not be getting paid the thousands of
dollars per episode.

Why does almost everyone in Ocean County go to such extremes to bad-mouth the Jersey Shore show? I mean, after all, it's not like you don't faithfully reelect the other family members of the cast every November by wide margins. I'm sure most viewers of MTV's Jersey Shore view the show for what it is: Truth in Advertising. That's the reason why MTV came here, and that is the reason why the show has been so successful. I would be surprised if GG wasn't one of the show's background executive producers, just like he is for the rest of Ocean County. Deal with it. At least the show didn’t have Sheriff Bill riding down the Boulevard trying to lasso Deena like the steer she is fantasizing about being (that’s because I’m not a producer.) :-)

Every time I go over the bridge there are so many police walking, riding bikes and driving in vehicles that it's no wonder someone was arrested for dancing in the street.

Maybe the news should be that the rookie cops are battling for new jobs once the summer is over and are there building a "good" arrest record (harass)!

I went there after a car show and had forgot to uncover my license plate and the cops in the street (directing traffic?) pulled me over and at least eight of them appeared looking for ANY thing to ticket me with.

Some countries actually are allowed to party and enjoy themselves in the summertime, around here it seems more like Gestapo tactics - and yes it makes money to pay for all of them ... come on, what happened to seaside which is billed as "Your Home For Family Fun Since 1913!"

Seaside has been and always will be known as Sleezeside. Friends and I drove through there a couple of weeks ago and there were gangs everywhere. Even biker gangs, which I don't remember ever seeing as a teenager/young adult. I stay as far away as possible.

We all used to go to seaside when we were in high school...20 years ago...and it was referred to as sleezeside back then. This stuff is not new. It's just getting more notoriety now because of the show. It doesn't matter that the cast is not from there....whether people want to admit it or not they do represent a specific group of people who go down there and act like idiots.

i've got news for you, 45 years ago, that's what we teens called it!! locals would sit on the benches (that moved, ocean view/boardwalk view), and watch the "girls" with their dripping makeup, tight clothes and spike heel walk, and get their heel caught in the crack, and fall flat on their face! nothing changes!! lol

I reiterate (that means that I'm repeating myself) that this show COULD be an al-Qaeda terror group (huh, MTV? Do 'ya think?) trying to keep US off our toes. You know, the way that a magician uses sleight-of-hand? Distractions? The country is SO
distracted by these idiots, that we don't see the NEXT 9/11 lurking behind us. Think about it.

At work I often talk to customer/vendors from other parts of the country and by far the most painful thing I am confronted with is how many of them think everyone at the Jersey shore (or just Jersey) is like these moronic a$$ clowns. I am tired of explaining that most of the cast isn't from Jersey, most of us don't act like them and it's just called Jersey Shore because that is where the show was based. I then have to explain what a Bennie is and that these clowns are the worst examples of Bennies. I can't wait till this show slips away for good.

Were any of these customer/vendors from other parts of the country giving any thought to visiting the Jersey Shore?

Mac, not that I know of. One guy made the mistake of saying "Hey Snookie" when he found out I was calling from Jersey. Good grief. Other shows like Jerseylicious and House wifes of NJ don't help the NJ image much either.

I too have received phone calls from customers from other states. They always have a comment about "Jersey Shore". I do my best to convince them we are all not like that and I actually live in a family friendly community with nice people.

All talk no action! Ocean County pride yay! Not! First off cable is not welcomed in my family's home. It's trash!Just like the homelessness issue, among other issues in this county most of the people who complained on here would leave me by myself if a call to protest was in order! Everyone wants to complain in this county, but are too obviously lazy to stand out,so unfortunately these issues will remain!

It's called the Jersey Shore but you never see them on the beach. I hear it's because Snooki and Deena aren't allowed in the water because they take all the smell out of the fish.

Miriam, who posted at 7:12 pm, on Monday, June 11, 2012, NEEDS to switch to decaffeinated coffee. Hey, Miriam, complaining IS in The Bill of Rights, you know.
You'll find complaining in the First Amendment, under Freedom of Speech! I spent four (4) years in the U.S. military, believe me, complaining is a way of life, there!

I hate everything about them and the show and all the protection they have so they dnt get hit or beat up. i wouldn't spit on them cause they don't deserve a REAL jersey shore person spitting on them. they would rub it in wishing to be a REAL jersey shorian (dnt know if word). They give ud such a bad name, look, etc.

Well said Christina. There are plenty of people who live there who are not welfare moms. Unfortunately, these motels take in the ones who are and they ruin it for the entire town and give the good people who live there a bad reputation.

If you talk to people in other states they think that it is how we live at the shore. This is what upsets people who have been here for years. We all know point is for families and seaside for bennies. So, jack up all prices to the max and us locals use point for the shore. Let the bennies stay there just stay out of Brick we have our own problems here.
