Jails are way to soft. ( I have an ex husband ) anyway he was in jail for 3 months for DWI and guess what!!!!! he did nothing but played cards and shoot pool!!! But the state was more then happy to charge 1000's of $ for his crime tho!! OK not the same thing but the concept is there. STATE AND JAILS ARE TO SOFT!

@ JohnJay Im not so sure about using Patriot Act but how about using the R.I.C.O. Act? It applies and unfortunately is rarely used outside of prosecuting Itailan mafia members. These are gangs are a structured organizations with a chain of command. The problem is you need to get the Federal agencies involved and they tend to be very political and currently most of their focus is on terror issues.

The other problem with bringing in the Feds is most times the local agencies take it as a insult.

I heard they are dedicating a street in Englishtown for Officer Matlosz, I like what the others are writing -- contact your legislators and get the death penalty for people who kill our law officers. We should have them come to the street dedication.

How is Jahmell Crockham "mentally sick"? He's a sociopath, but that doesn't buy you a Section 8 in our criminal justice system, nor should it. He is by all accounts remorseless and New Jersey is failing its citizens in allowing cop killers to live out their days on the taxpayers' dime.

Also - I've long advocated for leglislation that establishes membership in any criminal enterprise, such as a street gang, as a crime in itself. These "organizations" exist for no reason other than the break the law and simply belonging to one should be a crime.
