Will the police let you back into the neighborhood during the evactuation time if you leave for any reason?

My wife who is in the Air National Guard out of McGuire Air Base was told today she is being activated starting this Saturday Nov 10th..her Commander told her that her unit will be assigned to Brick NJ 24/7 until orders change.

A couple of questions regarding mandatory evacuation: If these folks don't have power or phones as a result of Sandy, how do they know? Has the Brick PD or OEM personnel notified them personally by knocking on their doors?

To Tom Cular - My sister had no idea about the evacations. Cell phone service is sporadic! She had said she hadn't seen one police car, one fire truck, one Red Cross truck in her neighbord. I called the OEM in Brick from North Jersey and told them that she had had no power for DAYS - no phone for DAYS - no internet for DAYS! I asked if they were going to send someone through the neighborhood with a bullhorn. There was complete silence on the line. I was finally able to get through to her on her cell and she evacauted. Had it not been for Patch, my sister would be alone in Brick.

Um so why did we evacuate last night? I wake to light rain, this is insane last thing I wanted to do was leave my house again and now you've pushed me out a day early...thanks.
