UPDATE: Lightning May Have Caused Garage Fire in Point Beach
No injuries in fire on Trenton Avenue
Lightning is the most probable cause of a fire that damaged a garage on Trenton Avenue in Point Beach, according to Ocean County Fire Marshal Daniel Mulligan.
Based on the county's investigation of the scene, that appears to be the most likely explanation, but that's not definite, Mulligan said.
No injuries were reported in the early Saturday morning fire, according to the Point Pleasant First Aid and Emergency Squad.
Just after 3:30 a.m., Point Pleasant Beach firefighters were dispatched along with the first aid squad to a fully-involved garage fire at 611 Trenton Ave, Point Beach, according to Jerry Meaney, an official with the first aid squad.
The fire department knocked the fire down quickly and called the Ocean County Fire Marshal's Office to the scene to assist with the fire investigation, Meaney said.

So much for the laws of physics... That giant tree above the garage looks to me like the spot lightning would hit first, but i'm no scientist. Guess that lightning rod I just bought is useless!
