Tonto - "The Obama for America Campaign, the Democratic National Committee, and the Ohio Democratic Party have filed suit in Ohio to strike down a part of that state's election law governing voting by active duty military personnel. The law gives military servicemen and women an extra three days to vote in person early than civilian voters. The Democrats do not think this is right.
The reason the Democrats are interested in suppressing the military vote is obvious on its face. Active duty military and retired veterans tend to support Republican candidates more the Democrats, as suggested by polling from both the 2004 election and the 2008 election. The fewer servicemen and women are allowed to vote, the better President Obama's chances of being re-elected are."

Fred - what will you do to cut the deficit? Be specific and tell us why you are better than your opponent.
As VP Joe Biden correctly stated yesterday, the Obama admin's policies of failure and spending have not helped the middle class but have added $7 trillion to our children's debt. We complain and complain about property taxes in NJ but many support these two with their runaway spending and taxes and no one is better off.
How they can justify raising taxes on the middle class that's been buried in the last four years," Biden, addressing supporters in North Carolina, said in reference to the period he and Obama have been leading the nation.

I'm in, bo bo...sorry took so long to get back to you on this - I was in Trenton, today. As to part one of your upcoming questions - where to cut implies we have a budget to address. As of right now, we don't have one. I've got a shiny new red pen and a bright yellow highlighter to attack whatever is produced, but, and I am not being flip, we have NO idea what Congress is presently spending - there is no budget - only heavily spun "news" reporting - I will never call what we see today "journalism". For a start, however, I think we need to look carefully at tariffs on foreign imports, mirroring the trade practices of our so-called partners...balancing both sides of the negotiation. Does that make me protectionist when it comes to American Manufacturing? Yup. We need to create new Production and Production Capability before we can address a trade deficit. Now, as to deficit SPENDING...our biggest problem in the BUDGET deficit - the largest single item (even though, I repeat, we STILL have no real budget) will almost certainly be the debt service on our unpaid loans. A re-organization of those loans is in order. If you can re-structure your balances between investors at a personal level, why can't we consider such activity at the Federal Level. The only thing we have to remember is that, just because you have something to sell, doesn't mean there's a buyer for it. We keep lending on the cheap to others - why are we not re-leveraging our own debt to reduce the cost?

This may come to you out of order - patch is still "pending" on the first part - which, as is my wont, is exactly 1500 characters. I've gotten good at hitting the limit.
More to say, here - a story explaining the economy when I spoke with a small group in a rural Maine town about a year ago that was seeking to increase the jobs in their town....I sat the 20 or so folks in a circle, having been given the floor in the meeting. I was prepared...I had brought about 50 dollars in singles (no wisecracks, now - I'm a very happily married man). I handed each one of the people two dollars. Then I asked them to pass ONE dollar to the person to their right. That done, I asked them to pass one dollar to their left. I then asked them - so, you have spent both dollars, but you still have two dollars - what did we learn, here? I let them give several answers, and some debate ensued - then I dropped the bomb with the REAL lesson. "Folks," I said, "If you keep doing what you're doing, you keep getting what you've got." In order for ANY of you to have MORE money coming in, that MONEY needs to come from OUTSIDE THE CIRCLE - which means you need to create something WITHIN the circle that someone OUTSIDE is willing to pay for - otherwise you're just running in place. We keep doing "busy work" in our State and at the Federal Level, pushing dollars here and there, with folks skimming off the top - but we're not a NET manufacturer, any more. If it weren't for the food we grow,...

The fastest and most convenient place to cut is described below - the posts don't seem to show up in order. Re-structure our debt service. Raising property taxes has been responsible for a great deal of the defaults we're seeing in homes in our district and elsewhere, and yet the community leadership doesn't understand why they never have enough. Lacey spent money for a feasibility study on a power plant the town is in no way prepared to build out of their own pocket - why were they on the hook for the feasibility study? Because it gave the engineering firm YOUR tax dollars to give back (in part) to the incumbents as campaign donations - that firm is under investigation all over for just that. Meanwhile, one of my "opponents" - an applicant (as am I) for the VACANCY on 11/6/2012 - that's right, a seat in Congress is no one's birthright - was there for a 'feel-good' meeting to justify the expense. The VERY NEXT DAY, we heard from Gov. Christie (same party) that the site for the three (gas) generating plants had already been selected - Do you mean to tell me that nobody bothered to tell JR the play had been changed? IF Lacey thinks that NJ is planning on stepping in to save the plant - they've already said what they're going to do. Meanwhile, a figure was bandied about of 800,000,000 - that's 800 MILLION dollars, to create a cooling tower and keep the plant in compliance. Well, firstly, that figure is an obvious work of fiction. Comcast's skyscraper was only 320M

I bring that up because waste, graft, and PORK are the next items on the chopping block. Folks in Brick - how about the closure of the public boat ramp? What did that cost you? Folks in Pemberton - what will you be on the hook for with the dumping of asphalt screenings in Brendan Byrne State Forest - CREATING an opportunity for someone to be paid to clean it up? The fraud and waste are crippling local budgets, driving up taxes, and putting families already stretched to the limit underwater - the proverbial "last straw". The entrenched party hacks have been picking your pockets for years, and yet people keep voting them right back into office. Take a stand! You've heard me say it - and I MEAN it, with every fiber of my being - "Stand for what's right, or settle for what's left". this should have been the last one - I believe it will appear first.

Meanwhile, has either of my so-called "major party" opponents signed, or even READ, the "Change the Rules" Pledge? Want to reduce waste and graft and pork in Congress and the Senate? The formula for Cutting the deficit involves BOTH spending cuts and increasing resources, or taxes for all Americans, Democrats are open to that, THE problem is the Republicans Absolutely refuse to raise their taxes ONE DIME even if there were $10 dollars of savings for every $1 dollar of tax of a tax increase.

Tonto that is such a tired excuse to hide behind while Obama has doubled the debt he called unpatriotic and irresponsible. Blame blame blame. At some point, the idiot needs to take some responsibility for his actions. No wonder no one is this country takes any for theirs.
The annual deficit is $1.3 trillion. Raise all the taxes you want and take in $100 billion. What are we gonna cut to get rid of the other $1.2 trillion to balance the budget.
Please detail the cuts for everyone to see
This is from USA Today
•You've repeatedly proposed to raise taxes on those making more than $250,000 a year while leaving the Bush tax cuts in place for everyone else. Soaking the rich might be good politics, but non-partisan tax and budget experts agree it won't come close to producing the revenue the nation needs. That will require far more people to share the burden, including some of the nearly half of Americans who pay no federal income tax.
Where do you plan to get the rest of the money?

Obstructionists Republicans refuse to raise taxes even if there were $10 of savings for every $1 dollar of tax increase. That's what's causing a gridlock in Washington, uncompromising Republicans out of control.
They ran up the deficit with 2 Wars not paid for, expensive tax cuts for the Wealthy- also not paid for.

Tonto,
You need to educate yourself and look back and see that Obama had a Democratic controlled Congress and Senate for (2) years and nothing was accomplished except for this horrible Obama Care that is going to cripple this nations industry and economic growth. With that said what is the excuse as to why things were not done then. In a more common sense approach the Republicans have no interest in raising taxes when spending by the Obama Administration for "public Handouts" is spiraling out of control and the only way to continue giving "Handouts" is to raise taxes on the middle class. Bottom line is if you only have $1000 to buy a new washer and dryer then thats all you spend...this current President spends twice that and then expects you and me to pay for their reckless spending. Get with the program man and stop drinking the cool aid unless your one of those collecting at the expense of the middle class tax payers. And when your health care and job is in jeopardy in a year or so from now as a result of Obama care being rammed down our throats PLEASE DONT COME CRYING about losing your job and benefits... you voted for him!

More of the same old tired BS.
Answer the question. What will you cut to reduce spending by the additonal $1.2 trillion needed just to balance the budget?
The biggest budget buster is the UNFUNDED entitlement spending but you like your freebies that are being paid for by borrowing money from China.
$1.3 Trillion ANNUAL deficit (adds to the $16 trillion debt each year)
less $100 B in new revenues from tax increases
= $1.2 trillion deficit
Maybe you need to call the loan ranger to explain this to you

Seniors are now saving money with Obamacare through Prescriptions, free health screenings. Romney's VP Ryan wants to change Medicare to Vouchercare where there will be a cap, a reduction to medical benefits. The $716 billion dollars that the President saved in Medicare were overpayments going to insurance companies. The President put that $716 billion back into Medicare despite the lies to the contrary constantly coming out of both Ryan's and Romney's mouth.
That $716 billion that the President put into Medicare has now extended the life of Medicare.
If you want factual information don't listen to Fox News except maybe Chris Wallace. He did an excellent job in trying to get Romney's Vice President Ryan to Explain the Arithmetic of Romney's proposed 5 trillion dollar tax cut.
Ryan couldn't provide an explanation to Romney's math that doesn't ADD UP !

The President didnt save anything all he did was rob Peter to pay Paul.....If you do the proper research you can find this anywhere unless your watching MSLSD, CNN, or NBC who apparently are hell bent on ramming this President down our throats again. Bottom line is He had 4 years, 2 of which he had a FULLY DEMOCRATIC controlled Senate and Congress and he accomplished nothing!! You cannot hide the Facts (you can spin them as you and others have tried) its clear as the Day. Furthermore the deficit has gone up, unemployment is still high, we are flirting with another recession and the cost of GAS (which is taxed at the federal level) is insane which is killing the American public. The sad thing is this is not the Democratic Party of the past where the foundation they stood on was solid and for the common man. Now its about entitlements which the elite of the Democratic Party have been able to exploit the minorities it pretends to represent and line their pockets with giant handouts which keeps them in office year after year being re-elected by a segment of society dependent on the GOV for handouts which honestly The Democrats have created and also Mastered...so before you blame the Rep's for the Economy maybe its your party that needs to take a long look at its past and the current actions. And quite frankly the Rep's have a lot of issues also but right now Romney is the lesser evil between Obama Vs. Romney.
