Point Boro, Point Beach and Bay Head Schools Closed Remainder of Week

Point Borough trick-or-treating cancelled

Point Borough, Point Beach and Bay Head public schools will be closed through Friday as the towns try to grapple with the horrendous aftermath of Sandy.

Schools will be closed Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in Bay Head and Point Beach, said Dr. John Ravally, Schools Superintendent for schools in both towns, which were ravaged with flooding, property damage and ongoing, widespread power outages.

In Point Borough, Mayor William Schroeder said the Borough high school would be used as a shelter for three more days.

Also, trick or treating in Point Borough has been cancelled, according to a public school district email sent to some local parents.

Henry if you hear anything let me know. We are on East Drive. Tried to get there yesterday but Beaver Dam Road was flooded by Riviera Drive. We are going to try again this afternoon but its harder to get into Point with road blocks. Reply here if you have news and I will do the same.

Police are checking on 2219 Glenwood Dr., they said to call back in 2 hours.
Do you know anything about an evacuation of SS harbor, where did they take people?

I just heard that my sister-in-law was able to drive to Glenwood Dr.
My parents are OK, so I called the police and cancelled the check.

Ok thanks a lot! We will try to go again this afternoon. Do you want me to check on anyone or property? I assume they went to the high school. That was a designated shelter.

My parents are hold up in their house at 2219 Glenwood Dr. If you could stop by and check on them that would be great. My sister-in-law is there now but not sure how long she can stay. I will be checking with my brother so someone is with them all the time until power is restored.

Got to Sunshine Harbor today. Water receded. Houses for the most part survived but had water damage. Our bungalow had 3 feet of water in the garage and 1 1/2 feet in the house. Furniture and appliances affected. Lots of drying out needed! Henry I checked on your parents house but it was dark by then. Everything seemed ok. People on the block were walking around. A boat docked in one of lagoons sank. There are random rowboats around the neighborhood as well.
