Point Beach Cancels Part of its Trash and Recycling Pick-Ups for Next Week
Town also lowering level of Lake of the Lillies
Point Pleasant Beach is cancelling part of its schedule for trash and recycling collection next week due to the incoming storm.
Point Beach Public Works Director John Trout said on Friday morning that the following changes are being made:
On Monday, there will be no trash collection in Districts 3 and 4 and there will be no recycling collection in Districts 1 and 2.
On Tuesday, there will be no trash collection in Districts 1 and 2 and no commercial cardboard pick-up town-wide.
Regarding bulk pick-up on Wednesday, public works asks that items not be placed out at curbside until late Tuesday or early Wednesday.
Regarding Lake of the Lillies, public works will lower the level of the lake in two phases, starting on Friday afternoon and then moving into the second phase on Monday morning, to help reduce flooding.
Lake Louise cannot be lowered because it is fed by the Manasquan Inlet and the ocean.
The department is asking residents and businesses to not rake leaves towards the streets until the middle of next week and to clear leaves from storm drains.
The town will release further information, as it becomes necessary, on the town's reverse 911 system and on its radio station 1630 AM.
The radio station will include information on:
- Evacuation Instructions (so far there is no recommendation or order to evacuate)
- Evacuation Routes
- Borough-wide power failures
- Traffic Detours
