To Christina Weaver: No, you do not need to register to attend the meeting. But you do need to register w/FEMA to be eligible for any possible financial assistance from them. I do not know if they are going to have one in Brick. Please read Brick Patch for Brick info. Yes, this is Wed., Feb. 6. Smitty, I'm sure a lot more than 25 people will go to this meeting.

I personally think some towns and their residents are beating a dead horse. They already made their decisions...We are on our own.

Smitty, I was at the meeting where there was an overflow crowd spilling out of the auditorium at Antrim. It appeared to me and others that there were more than 500 people, to answer your "request" to do you "a favor." In the future, when asking someone to do something, please remember to say "please" and "thank you." Thank you.

Hi Denise - Did they say anything about re-zoning those newly put into the "V" zone that should not belong there - like homes on lagoons, etc?

I will be posting a story on meeting. But based on what I heard there and in my interviews and emails w/FEMA, FEMA may do minimal "rezoning," as you say, because they are doing a wave analysis and other work as part of process leading to issuance of "preliminary maps," i.e. revised versions of the current "advisory maps." But not a lot of "rezoning" is expected, acc. to FEMA. Residents, towns, groups can appeal AFTER the preliminary maps come out, which may happen in Aug. or Sept. However, they said appeals will not be successful unless they use compelling scientific evidence that trumps what FEMA describes as their own scientific evidence. There will be more details in my story. Also, they are urging all residents with questions to post them on www.Region2Coastal.com.

It's so frustrating because it leaves you not able to make a move to rebuild properly now when you need to. You run the risk of not being in proper spec and then getting socked by the skyrocketing flood insurance bill for next year!
