They are winning because they have a New Coach which is playing his best players. Who is a motivative guy who is actually coaching the boys and teaching them how to play the game. To make them truly understand how the game should be played and the importance of working as a team. He was a coach north of point beach. We need to change some of Point Beach coaches. It is amazing how a team could change in one season when you have the right coach instead of losing year after year. Not that you can always have a winning season every year at least try and go by ability and play who should be playing. But lets face it, if a coach can't get a winning team in at least 3 years most likely they don't have great coaching skills. Look at Coach Ty Hawkins, the baseball team was supposed to not win, and look what happened.

@John, I have to agree with you that we need new coaches. Coaches who actually want to win and stop playing politics. By this age level, the student athletes and coaches should want to win. Personally, the students know when the coaches don't play the better player...God forbid a student athlete questions what the coach is doing? Believe me at this age level, the students know how to connect the dots. Many of the coaches don't want to be called out on issues. Why? Because they know they are guilty. Most don't give Point Beach a second though because most of the teams we play are very weak to begin with. Records only are not the answer. It is who you are playing. If you can barely beat a weak team in your division what does it say. First round out in the states. They only start to pay attention to a Beach teams is when they beat a good team from another division and that is the truth. You can't compare pt.boro and brick teams records and say the beach has a better record. They play entirely different teams. So good for the Beach boys football team and the New Coach for starting to win teams out of their division that have a good record in their division. It was an impressive win against middlesex because they are out of our division that has a good record. So kudos to you ALL for wanting to win.

Are you people living in a dream world? Point Pleasant Beach has enjoyed great success in most sports for the past several years. Granted, the football team has had a rough go of it prior to this year , but most other sports have done extremely well. We never play a team that is smaller than us,since we are the smallest team in the Shore Conference. We`ve won championships recently in baseball, basketball, and wrestling as well as many in the girls sports. Maybe you thought your son or daughter was not getting sufficient playing time, but from the events I`ve seen, the best players are playing. I`d be interested to know which sports need new coaches. You both sound like the typical disgruntled parents to me.

Now Children... Enough of this Banter! Lets leave the past in the past... I'm so Thankful we have the Coach we have and I know the boys feel the same way. It's a new year and lets just foucus on winning football games.. After the Boro lost to Mon Don last night I really wish we played them for Thanksgiving. Absolutely right, Kim. Beach and Boro should be playing each other every year in every sport. We may not win them all, but, those games would give the kids memories to last them a lifetime.

Peter Pan, you must be one of the parents who are in the beach bubble or fairy tale land. The boys are only doing so good because of the new coach. He is actually teaching them the game and the boys are working hard, like a team and he is playing his best players, and if someone is off, common sense you put in another player in. Get real, the Beach is out of their league with the Boro. The football team was a losing team for quite some time not just the prior year. Basketball I will give you, because they had a star player that was brought in, now they brought a new player in, I wonder who is paying for that? I am sure all of we are. Nothing like getting in an athletic scholarship student in to take one of our own athletic students spot. That really never was given a fair chance. I guess you don't mind paying taxes for someone else to play so they can get a free ride to college. Ty Hawkins is a great coach that also turned the players and team around too. They were not supposed to win and kudos to him and his players. What don't you understand, the teams we play in our division are week, just look and compare. Many of the other schools we play in our division are just as small. We have been winning or tying for our division for the last couple of years because we changed coaching and the philosophy of, it is only the Beach. How long do you think we should keep a coach, that loses year after year. This has nothing to do with my kid playing. We should be playing the best.

John Wayne...no scholarships for HS. Might surprise you...but some people do move into the town for the school system. If you knew Jarelle at all...you'd know to shut your mouth. If you knew the new student (amongst many) you would again know to shut your mouth. You don't have any idea what you are talking about.

A. Resident you are the one who is clue less. Who ever mentioned Jarelle? Jarelle was good player for a Beach team. Towards the end, he was not playing like team, he was only worried about himself and the team fell apart. There is no I in team, Let's keep that attitude and we will have another disappointing year. It takes a team and good plays, pass the ball around instead of one individual player trying to get 1,000 pts. or more. If you hand off the ball to one person all the time, eventually that player will be stopped. I don't really trust any schools, most only see and hear what they want and that is how I am seeing it. They will not admit to anything. I am rather sick of the bull and self promoting on how great they say the schools is. They can make anything look good under their control. Do you really think that they are going to tell you what they do and don't do. Wow, you are really naive or playing stupid.

Charles, you have a short memory. Our Thanksgiving series with the Boro was competitive each year. When my son played in 2005, the Beach led the game with 4 minutes left before losing by a touchdown. The Boro was 9-0 at the time. Playing the Boro always brought out the best in the Beach athletes. Don`t tell me we couldn`t win this year.
Hiring Coach Wagner was an excellent decision and his coaching along with having a nice group of skilled players has been the difference this year. Maybe you could tell us the sports that we need some new coaches in. Every time you post on here , there`s always some conspiracy going on. The baseball team won last year with Ty Hawkins and they won before that with Ray Ellis. So John, you say Jarelle was brought in. Really? You seem to know alot. Who brought him in? Maybe you didn`t read the same reports that I read where it said that his father chose to send him to the U.S.to get an American education and that he(father) granted guardianship to his very good friend in Lavalette. You are pathetic. Please, share with us the sports in which the best players are not playing. This is a very small school with a limited number of athletes to choose from so if someone is not playing, there`s probably a good reason for it. This "new player" you speak of...is he a resident, a resident of a sending district, a tuition student? Is he any of those?

Hmmm.... Jarelle... over 1600 points in 3 seasons, led team in assists 2 seasons(that means he gave someone else the ball) all shore twice, 1st team all state last year. You say he was "a good player for a Beach team". In other words, he wouldn`t have been a good player on another team? Charles, the more you type, the more ignorant you sound.

That I was glad the BEACH hired a NEW COACH and I am giving the new coach credit for the wins and for playing the best players? What is so wrong with that? I will and do support the coaches who are good, I am not going to defend any coach who is not doing what is right. Sorry, but I don't feel ALL the prior coaches in the Beach sports programs were good and the school chose to keep them all those years. Why? I am glad they are changing and I welcome it. Obviously you are only a fan and don't have any children who actually play sports other wise you would know how many feel the same way including some of the kids who should be playing and were not. Believe me, I am not alone. But not with the few new coaches. Please don't make the excuse it is because the players changed. It is because the new coaches finally gave the student athletes we already HAD a chance to play that should have been playing from the beginning that the other coaches did not. hmmmmmm, I wonder why?

I can understand a little bit of all your views. I have to say that I am happy with the Coach Changes and I didn't always agree with the prior coaches either and maybe you can't understand that because you have no children playing at this time. I do understand the frustrations regarding the football program during the last 2 years. I attended most games and was left scratching my head more than a few times. Thank goodness they got it right by hiring Coach Wagner and giving these seniors a shot for a great season. My concern with the earlier posts were the statements alluding to the need to replace other coaches. Most of our sports teams have been enjoying considerable success over the past few years, so I found the need to come to the defense of those coaches. My son was fortunate enough to play for Nick Giglio and Ray Ellis, so I had no concerns at that time. Let`s hope for continued success in the weeks to come.

We are a small school and can play and beat teams in our division. Don't get me wrong we have beat teams out our division that were weak in theirs. I have no problem supporting the team and I am glad they are winning. But I have to give credit to the New Coach in him playing the best players and that is the way it should be. The Beach football team has been in a slump and long time and now they are magically doing great and breaking all records...... It is happening because the New Coach is great and is motivating the boys and they are playing hard and as a team. The beach coaching and some beach teams have been their worse enemies because they all want to be individual stars promoted by only some of the parents. They forget there is no I in team. It is funny how all of a sudden we are getting new coaches and the teams have turned around instantly. I wasn't aware that the Beach school is regionalized. We except tuition students that have to pay to come to our public school. I don't know about Brought in , Rotando is a resident, his parents still live here. I think Jarelle lived in Lavallete which is our sending district, all Lavallette students come to the Beach School System. The rest of the Students I don't know. Either way, there is kids that are from here that can play and is not always given the same chance and should.

@pointboro, If you don't live here you will never understand. They like to fight amongst themselves on all issues including the town. There is even some local politicians on here too... Of corse they will not admit it. Many are just sick and tired of all the lies and bull that some of the parents, coaches, school and politicians continue to throw. The student athlete deserves better and so does the tax payers. They will not admit the truth and we know that too. When you have entire teams quitting, you know there is huge problems. Keep on ignoring these issues and soon their will be no more teams playing any sports. Maybe that is the goal and they don't care, it will catch up to them. When will they realize this when it is to late. Then we will not need the Athletic director, assistant director, trainers, physical therapist, coaches, etc.... Many are sick of the smoke and mirrors and don't want to go to the varsity sports banquet because it is almost he point of ridiculous of really what happened.

Charles Clark, have you followed girls soccer at all in the Beach? Brand new coach last year....team did well in states. Same coach this year...JV team quit. Again, a new coach in his second year. Ya, the new coaches are great. (sarcasm)

Hawkins has been a coach with the baseball team for years...he just moved up 1 step.

Girls tennis...assistan coach moved up to coach.

Boys soccer...same coach for years....very much a winning record.

Football....many of the same coaching staff except for head coach.

Where are all these "new" wondrous coaches?

The Beach baseball team was poorly judged.. Ellis and the Athletic Department had no idea the baseball team would be so good because multiple players they had came from different school districts and also multiple players got the opportunity to come up from Jv and they took advantage and played good baseball and for everyone's information Ty Hawkins is a professional hitting coach for the STATEN ISLAND YANKEES so clearly he knows how to coach... and The Football team is winning all because of John Wagner... he won multiple state titles at a group 1 level in Roselle Park back in the early 90s. He is a great coach who knows how to motivate and game plan with a smal roster.

Right now Beach is Better in Boro in ALL BOYS sports other than Golf!!!

I don`t know that the Beach has ever shied away from playing larger schools in any sport. They are obviously locked into their shore conference division schedule in all sports and then fill in the remaining dates with schools they choose to play. This is the case except in football where all schedules for all schools are determined by the shore conference. I believe the only game a school has a choice in is the Thanksgiving Day game. My son graduated in `06, but I`ve stayed pretty close to the sports programs since,and in that year , alone, Beach played the undefeated Boro tough until losing in the final minutes. We also beat Matawan and lost to Raritan. I wouldn`t consider them small schools. In baseball, Beach beat Boro in `05 and `06 and I don`t believe we`ve played them since. Beach continually wrestles larger schools and wins more often than not. The basketball program speaks for itself. We should be playing BORO this Thanksgiving because seeing 3000 BEACH/BORO friends and families circling Antrim field to root for their boys is a beautiful sight.... win or lose, and I don`t know that we would necessarily lose this year. Beach- Boro in every sport ,every year.

Something I feel the beach does a lot. You do realize it is the year of 2011. Yes, the beach has improved the last few years and I credit the basketball program for getting a little pride back into the sports program in general were they are bringing in fans. Just an example, I went to St.Rose basketball game against the Beach and a St. Rose fan made a comment, In all my years, I never heard anything about beach basketball team, I didn't even know that they were into sports never mind basketball, I never knew that they were that into sports, very odd they just came out of no where. I am just seeing it as it is, I am all about reality. Look at the Asbury Park Press, We are rarely in a top ten of teams, not last year, the year prior we were like no. 10 in the top teams in BB that hasn't happened in a very long time. The most publicity the Beach ever received from the APP was on Tennis and Swimming. They received a little with soccer last year, they just don't take us serious, you have to prove it to them before they will come out. Maybe if we play a worthy team like Manasquan or Wall then they will take notice.

@Peter, That is why I said, if we truly played by ability, not by political or connections maybe our teams would be more competitive and taken a little more seriously. Sorry, that is how I see it.

My point was we do compete against and have competed against larger schools that have no business losing to us , yet they do. Beach is the smallest of the small schools, but we hold our own within our division and out in most sports. In a conference with 44 schools, making the top 10 is an amazing accomplishment for any school, yet the BB team finished #3 last year. You state that we usually lose to teams out of our division. I`ll challenge you on that. I`d be willing to bet that within the last 5 years we`ve won more than lost against larger schools in the Shore Conference. Schools like Manasquan and Wall don`t want to play the Beach, especially in football, because it gets them very few power points toward the state tournament. Group 2`s and 3`s don`t want to play group 1`s just like group 4`s don`t want to play 2`s and 3`s. As i said before we are locked into the football schedule, but, go outside our division in all other sports and do well. You want us to compete against bigger and better programs, yet, above you say we can`t compete against the Boro. 5 years ago we could, but now we can`t? C`mon make up your mind.

Take off your rose color glasses! No kidding.....schools from different group's don't play each other and I am saying if that happen's to the beach because we have a good season, we are out in one. We should try to give our own kids a shot instead of overlooking them for a tuition kid that parents now have more say over what happens because they are paying. We had athletes come here because they were in Howell,Brick etc.... didn't have a chance in their school, but now they are stars of our teams. Our student athlete gets boxed out.

@Peter, That is the reality, When a Parent goes to the Super and complains their kid is not playing and they are paying for them to come here, guess what happens? Like I said, they come from larger schools that they wouldn't get a second look and for our school they are really good according to some. I say we have some of our own if given the same chance, opportunity and play time. It is funny how they will not bump and BOE,Administrators or Teachers kid, so who get left out all the rest of the resident kids. We have some parents going around saying how great we are. We just beat the pants off of Lakewood, Long Branch, Asbury with the exception of basketball and football, big deal, they are schools that really have no substance.

Some Students Athletes do actually come to Beach for academics first then Athletics... Beach is rated number 1 in ocean county in overall Academics!!! Top 40 in the state overall for public schools!! And yes, a few star players on the baseball team came from other districts

Not the Athletes I know. Is that the reason they are star players? Tuition student parents have more of a say being they are paying big bucks to the beach public school. Because at a private school or their own school they would not have any say and most likely would not be a star player on that team.

Can't we all agree to disagree. Not that I agree with EVERYTHING the school,coaches or staff does. Who can agree 100% with any school, person or organization. If you are having problems, do what everyone usually does, either tell that person or make a complaint to the school with your problems or concerns. To spread or listen to rumors or possible lies could be dangerous. Some Individuals will spin it around to make it look like it is you, when it is actually them or someone else who is complaining. They will use you as a pawn for themselves. It is called back stabbing. Remember, If you don't see it with your own eyes don't believe it at all. Like I said, If you do see something you don't like then do what you have to do and report the issue or problem. I just have to say........ all those who are complaining should be THANKFUL......... because their child might may not have even made the team never mind play....... in a much larger schools, just my opinion...... Yes, I do believe in fairness so again make a complaint if you don't think you are getting treated fairly.
