Point Beach Holiday Cooks Tour Canceled

But Antrim PTO will still have raffle

The Holiday Cooks Tour in Point Beach has been canceled, due to the destruction caused by Sandy.

But the G. Harold Antrim Elementary School PTO will still run a raffle.

For those who bought tickets to the Cooks Tour or who want more information, please read the letter below from Peg Born, PTO Treasurer:

"It is with great sadness that we inform you that the PTO Executive Board, along with the Holiday Cooks Tour Committee, have made the difficult decision to cancel this year's event. We are, however, going to continue with our 50/50 raffle as planned. Tickets are $5.00 each and the drawing will take place on Dec. 1st.

Many of the homes and restaurants that volunteered to be a part of this year's Cooks Tour suffered devastation from Hurricane Sandy. With only three weeks until the event, it would be impossible to find alternative homes and restaurants.

This is a particular hardship for our PTO, as this is our single largest fundraising event that we hold each year. This one event represents almost 85% of the total support we are able to provide our students and school."

The PTO is offering the following options:

1)      Full Reimbursement

2)      Donate the cost of your ticket to the PTO

3)      Roll-over the $45.00 value or partial value for 50/50 raffle tickets ($5.00 each)

Please see attached refund request form that you can print, complete and mail.

Born added, "I will be at Antrim Elementary this Friday from 2:45 to 4 pm to handle refunds in person."

Or, anyone can mail the refund forms along with their tickets to:

Thanks for posting this Denise. We really need to spread the word as fast as possible. And to also remind everyone that we are still moving forward with the 50/50 -- which has the potential to be $7000.00+ for the winner. If anyone wants information on how to purchas a ticket, please e-mail antrimptocookstour@gmail.com Thanks everyone, and again, our thoughts and prayers go out to our volunteer families, our restuarants and our entire community that are suffering in the aftermath of Sandy.

I really hope people who purchased tickets seriously consider either donating thier ticket money to the PTO or rolling it over into 50/50 tickets. This is a great organization that does so much for the kids at Antrim School. With the cancellation of the Cooks Tour they are basicallly giving up 60-75% of thier operating budget for next year (and part of this year), which wil greatly affect thier ability to help our kids. I am sure it was not an easy decision to cancel this year's tour - although given the circumstances it was the right thing to do.
