UPDATED TOTALS: Point Boro GOP Wins Two Council Seats
Board of Ed. incumbent and two challengers win
The Ocean County Clerk's website has updated vote totals this morning. All vote totals increased, but the new figures do not change who won (see chart below).
Incumbent Republicans Antoinette DePaola and Bill Borowsky have defeated Democrats Jim McClure and Sal Martino for two, three-year seats, based on results so far.
Among the Point Pleasant Boro Board of Education candidates, in a race of four candidates running for three seats, incumbent Rick Ruiz and newcomers Nancy Pazienza and Peter Hetzel won. Former board member Brian Bartlett lost his bid.
See results for the municipal and board races in chart below.
Results will not be complete and official for a while. For one thing, Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno issued a directive Tuesday afternoon extending New Jersey's email and fax voting to Friday, according to nj.com.
The article reports: "In a directive issued this afternoon, Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno instructed county clerks to accept applications for mail-in ballots by fax or e-mail through 5 p.m. today. Clerks will process those applications throughout the week, and ballots must be returned by 8 p.m. Friday."
Also, the Ocean County Clerk website states that mail-in and provisional results will not be final until Nov. 21.
The following results are ONLY for how Ocean County voters cast their ballots.

Everybosy should know that in the wake of a natural disaster,, Martino and McClure's campaign released a negative, personal attack ad against Toni DePaola. Our town didn't have bigger things to worry about? Mayor Schroeder is their campaign treasurer, Councilman Leitner plays an integral role on their campaign. It calls into question this entire team's judgement.
Toni and Bill have kept their promise to run the positive campaign that residents deserve. They have a proven track record of saving the taxpayers money. Vote for Toni and Bill.

I don't know Tom, using a natural disaster for a phony public service announcement/campaign robocall is pretty slimy?

Tom, you play the crying towel too often, you have placed the spending on Democrats and yet the control is Rebublican. You claim savings by your camp but your camp appointed the expensive county cronies. Tom use your mirror, I like you but you just play politics and then cry foul.. stop

Hey Mayor DoDo & Co: with all that union, out of town "United Citizens" campaign money paying for countless color two sided glossy flyers. . .you loss! But that last flyer calling Toni DePaola a double dipper had to have been the epitome of it all. . .especially when the very next day. . . low and behold, a letter comes from one of the biggest double dippers in town, Bill Dikun, retired Bay Head Police Chief and current employee of the Ocean County Sheriffs Dept. . .And what was DePaola's other job that they didn't mention in the flyer. . .she's a Councilwoman. . .Pathetic?
I'm glad to see that the residents saw thru all this BooHaa and voted to reelect Toni DePaola and Bill Borowsky, according to the Ocean Star tonight. . .

I would like to congratulate Nancy Pazienza on her victory. She is a great lady and we are proud to see her elected. She deserved to get the most votes (should've been higher IMHO) because of her dedication to the youth in this town. Note to the rest of the BOE: you should ALL listen to her VERY CAREFULLY on the issues. If you don't, we will remember.

Congratulation to our new Council memebers. Now you all have a bipartisan project. Please check into why JCPL has been taking this long to restore power to ALL of the Boro. You can join Brick Twp. in this effort (they are FAR worse off than we are). The workers are doing their best but PSEG has been outpacing them by far and away. There has been multiple accusations ever since First Energy (non-NJ company) took over that the equipment maintainance has not been up to the previous standards while our rates went higher (we paid a premium rate for a higher standard of service). Perhaps the BPU should give us back an electric utility owned and run by New Jersey folks.

Bill Borowsky & I would like to thank the residents of Point Pleasant for continuing to believe in us. We promise to continue to fight for the best interests of our residents. We put up with many lies and insults during this campaign, but we will leave that all behind us as we move forward to recover from the devastation of Sandy and do what is best for Point Pleasant. Thank You again to all our first responders and our DPW! They went above and beyond for all our residents. I am proud to be a resident of Point Pleasant. Thank you again for the honor of representing you!

Toni,
I have tried not to go back and forth with you regarding your false allegations of lies and insults made during the election. Everything I said was based upon fact and public records. If you weren't too "busy" to meet in a forum, I'm sure I would have proven each and every point I raised during the campaign. Instead, I think I will come to each Council meeting so we can discuss the issues in public. Sal Martino

Spooner,
You should spend more time maintaining your property and less time writing about politics.
