Point Boro Relief Center to Move on Friday

Site will move to Albert Clifton Avenue

The Point Boro Relief Center will start moving at 9 a.m. Friday from Bridge Avenue to a building on Albert Clifton Avenue.

The new site is across the street from the Department of Public Works and next to Point Paws, the local animal welfare agency.

The Relief Center had started outside Borough Hall on Bridge Avenue, moved east on Bridge to the former Tally's car dealership site and is now moving again.

The process of moving may continue into Saturday, said Kiel Arnone, Borough Deputy Emergency Management Coordinator.

The relief center has non-perishable food, water, diapers, firewood and cleaning supplies. It no longer has clothing.

Arnone and other volunteers established the relief site just after Sandy wreaked havoc in the town's low-lying and waterfront sections as it tore its way up the Jersey Shore from Oct. 29 into Oct. 30.

The center does not need any donations at this time and does not need any additional volunteers for the move, Arnone said.
