Point Borough's Elliot Correia Named Manasquan Police Chief
Manasquan Borough Council unanimously approves appointment
Point Borough resident Elliot Correia is now Manasquan police chief, after serving in the position on a temporary basis.
The Manasquan Borough Council unanimously appointed him chief on Tuesday.
The resolution passed by a 5-0 vote promoting Correia to chief. Councilman Don Grasso was not present.
Correia was sworn in by Mayor George Dempsey before a standing-room-only crowd of Manasquan police, residents and other supporters.
Correia received a standing ovation as he finished taking his oath.
"Thanks to all my guys, thanks to my family," Correia said. "To the people of Manasquan, I really thank all of you and I look forward to continued service to Manasquan. And we do have the finest police force on the Jersey Shore, and you guys have made it easy."
The resolution passed with the contingency that Correia's new contract must be signed within 14 days of the appointment.
