Dick's in Brick Readers' Choice for Best Sporting Goods

Modell's in Toms River places second in weekly poll

April 13 update: As the poll closes at 9 a.m., it's Dick's Sporting Goods in Brick that garnered the most votes, with 46.

****

Whether you are suiting up the kids with a new glove for baseball or want to restring your tennis racket, you likely have a sporting goods store that is your favorite.

The area's sporting goods stores is the topic of this week's poll and we want to know which one is your choice.

For this week's poll of your favorite spot to buy sporting goods, we're looking a bit more regional than usual.

If we left a local store off of our poll list, let us know in the comments or by email!

Voting for your favorite places is easy. All you have to do is:

  • Cast your ballot below.
  • Tell your friends, family, acquaintances, co-workers, doctors, letter carriers and anyone else you know to do the same.
  • Use our comment tool to tell us what makes your favorite the best.

The poll is open until 9 a.m. Friday and the winner will be announced at noon that day. A tie would be decided by which store has the most positive comments and reviews on their Patch Places page.

Every vote counts, so make sure you vote for your favorite and tell us what makes it the best!

Editor's Note: Because this poll is not scientific, it is not the sole consideration in choosing a winner. The winner will be determined by the Patch editor, based on poll results and reviews on Patch Places. Please vote only once per survey, per Patch. Contest rules are attached.

Patch.com is really the only medium in greater Ocean County that provides local news. Thank you.

However, Patch.com's THIRD bullet within its mission statement reads, "learn about local businesses."

Kislin's, the 3rd listed in this survey, is the only one at the "local level."

Of course the national chains are going to win this "Readers Choice" survey.

If you care about the "community" (especially during National Small Business Week), you might want to also reassess your journalism skill and (1) support your Patch.com vehicle's mission (2) consider the bigger picture.

Shaka.

Modell's should LAST.. Dick's & Sports Authority are the only stores in TR/Brick to offer a fulls selection of NEW Under Armour & NiKE athletic wear as well as a vast array of products to make any outdoor adventure more FUN!! kislins has under armour with DUST on the tag from 2004... modell's is only slightly better than kislins... take my advice since this is the only time i will say this... i love DiCK'S sporting goods in Brick nxt to costco!

YES Dicks has a larger selection. & its newer of course its going to look nicer, I have been shopping for years at Modells, only bcz when my son 1st started sports I needed to buy him equiment, I had no idea what to get and money to spend, I walked around sport Auth. Not one person asked if they could help me after walking the store 2x walked out. So then I drove to Modells knowing that if nothing else its lower tax, ( before Dicks was even built) there was a older man that helped me get what was Needed & explained to me things I DIDNT need to buy because it was nessary & just wasted money, Years later Iam still going there bcz of how they treated me on my 1st visit, & still the staff & mang. will always go out of there way to be helpful. They are a smaller store, however there is a larger store in T. R that has more apparel.
