Belmar Is The Jersey Shore's Favorite 'Staycation' Spot, Poll Says
Island Beach State Park and Jenkinson's finished second and third, respectively
A late, improbable rally put Belmar beaches at the top of this week's Readers' Choice poll for favorite Jersey Shore "staycation" spots, with 113 votes.
Belmar is known for it's wide, long boardwalk, and its attraction to college-age adults who enjoy the beach and the local night-life.
Island Beach State Park, the only natural beach on the Jersey Shore other than Sandy Hook, led for much of the week but finished second with 82 votes. Jenkinson's Boardwalk, which includes an aquarium, rides, food and other seaside pleasures in Point Pleasant Beach, finished third with 77.
Thank you for voting in this week's poll. Results are at the bottom of this article. Other choices in the poll included:

I honestly cannot think of one person I know who would go on a staycation to Keansburg. Whover cast votes for that town in this contest must have been joking.

I live in Toms River.....On the weekends I become a BENNY and go to the mountains because the class of what infests us is just plain disgusting. Between the drunks looking for Snookie and the Guido's and Guidette's, TR should put up an electrified gate and close the town on the weekends.

The term "Benny" or "Bennie" is an all-inclusive (local) term for tourists from all over the tri-state area who come to the Jersey shore. It's not exactly a term of endearment, but it is non-ethnic.
BUT the terms "guidos" and "quidettes" is an ethnic slur and is aimed at Italian Americans specifically. It's crude and offensive.
Learn some freakin' manners, you haters.

All I can say is that driving on Rt9 lately has been nothing but NY license plates. If they knew how to drive it would bother me but where or where do they get their credentials?
Stay in NY....
