The event in the park on Bridge Avenue will feature an opening ceremony, a survivor reception for cancer survivors and their guests, a luminaria ceremony and a closing ceremony at 5:30 a.m. Sunday.
Survivors are welcome to attend the Survivor Reception that begins at 5:30 p.m., even if they have not registered yet and just walk into the event tomorrow, said Katrina Salvatoriello, chair of the Point Borough Relay for Life and a Point Borough High School Math teacher.
The Survivors' Reception will be held under the Big Survivor Tent and survivors are welcome to be a part of the Survivor Ceremony and Victory Lap which will follow the Opening Ceremony at 7 p.m., Salvatoriello said.
Walking begins after the opening ceremony and will continue through the night and into the early morning, with at least one member from each team walking at all times.
"Just like cancer doesn't sleep, neither will we, and, to help us stay awake, we will have tons of entertainment and activities throughout the night," Salvatoriello said.
"Anyone is welcome to stop by even if they are not registered participants to see what Relay for Life is all about," she said.
Teams will have onsite fundraisers going on all night. There is a 10 p.m. curfew, which means anyone who is not a registered participant must leave by that time.
This year's theme is "One Hope. One Heart. One World."
Teams will represent countries around the world such as "I'rish For A Cure", "Chi'na Find a Cure", "Jamaican Dreams Come True." as well as "Ghana Fight For A Cure."
At 8 p.m. on the main stage there will be at least six participants donating their hair to the Pantene Beautiful Length movement to make wigs for cancer patients.
Quality Hair Designers in Bay Head and Riverfront Hair Studio in Toms River will be cutting the hair donations.
Health Source in Brick will be donating their time providing massages and other services to participants from 4 to 8 p.m.
Food will be donated to the Survivor Reception by Spano's, Lorton's Deli, Silver Lake Kitchen, Colonial Ranch, and the Country Bakery.
MJDJ will be donating their time to provide our DJ Entertainment til 10pm.
Barbary Coast Salon will do hair braiding and color extensions for a donation. There will be a gift auction including summer fun baskets and gift certificates donated by many local businesses including Spa Bella, Grazianos, the Hickory Hog and Shore Fresh Seafood.
