Toms River Attorney Nominated as New Ocean County Prosecutor

Joseph D. Coronato would replace Marlene Lynch Ford

Joseph D. Coronato has been nominated by Gov. Chris Christie to become the new Ocean County prosecutor, pending state senate approval.

Coronato, a longtime Toms River resident and attorney, now with the firm of Coronato, Brady and Kunz, 12 Madison Ave., Toms River, would replace Marlene Lynch Ford, who was appointed by Gov. Jon Corzine in June 2007.

Coronato could not be reached for comment.

The nomination of Coronato was one of three nominations for three different county prosecutor positions made by Christie yesterday. The other two were: James P. McClain for Atlantic County Prosecutor and Frederic M. Knapp for Morris County Prosecutor.

Ford said on Friday afternoon that her five-year appointment expires on June 26, but that she would legally be required to continue in her role until a successor is appointed.

Ford, who lives in Toms River with her family, said she hopes to serve again in a public capacity.

When asked if that might involve a different gubernatorial appointment, she said, "I know that I may be considered for other positions that are appointed by the governor. But it would be presumptuous on my part to assume that will happen. Nothing has been offered to me. I'm hopeful there is an opportunity for me to serve the public in another capacity in the future. If not, I'll return to private practice."

Ford, a former state Assembly member, was nominated in 1992 by Gov. James Florio to be a Superior Court judge, according to her bio (see attached PDF) on the prosecutor's website.

She served in the family division for four years, and for ten years in the civil division. In 2006, she was appointed by Chief Justice Zazzali to be Presiding Judge of the Family Division.

But, Mahoney should not be brought back. The Office needs an extreme makeover. There are many successful Law Enforcement people out there to turn the office around. But it will be poliitics as usual and I guess the old wood will be recycled.

That office does not need turning around, or a makeover. Ford did a great job and hopefully the new prosecutor will continue.

I think Marlene Lynch Ford did a great job! And I'm a Republican, I'm not sure what more you think she could've done? She pulled out all the stops to get that killer of the lakewood police officer, does doing a good job depend on which party gets you the job? some of these posts are just out of line.

@Robert Bressman Yes, she pulled out all the stops for the killer of the Lakewood police office. That was the one and only case I saw the punishment was almost fitting for the crime. Every other criminal got off pretty easy. Obviously the Governor reads the case files and thought she was doing a crappy job too. I'll bet all the people posting read the same APP stories I've read.

AGAIN, Good Riddence, Welcome and best of luck to Joseph D. Coronato!!

Sorry sweetheart but you are wrong. I am an R as stated many times on here. And yes it will be politics as usual and HOW do I know this? When ever Gilmore chimes in and is interviewed for an appointment like this, you know a favor has been done.

Wake up and take off your blinders, nothing will change, it doesnt matter who is sleeping with what party and with whom, it is politics as usual in Ocean County.

@ Pual Yes Paul, a Democrat in Ocean County, that gets me real far. And since when did becoming a municipal employee take away one's right to vote or be politically active? You need to get a copy of the constitution there Paul. You see here folks Paul is a bunny lover who doesn't like something on another Patch topic about our Freeholders gassing geese and he has to come over and start somewhere else. Mrs. Ford did a good service in my opinion and I was thanking her and your comments are childish. The only time I was ever in the same room with her is when she spoke to my Middle School in the 1980's years before she was in her current role.

actually i was more alarmed when a town employee like mark here bragged he made some sort of homemade flamethrowing device to blow up parts of the parks. can only guess how many gas lines and water mains he damaged with his " boom device" . not to mention ocean county is in a drought alert and the chance of wildfires are high and this nut is using propane fed by pure oxygen in areas that could burn for days and cause untold property damage . perhaps mrs ford can find a good lawyer for you when you injure some kid or do thousands in damage.

anyone can read the other article and see that you brag about pumping oxygen and propane from tanks into the ground and igniting them with a " boom' . its only a matter of time before he hits an unmarked gas line or fractures a water main. dont municipal employees have to take some sort of test? i guess most of them usually have an in law or some other " in" to get a job with the town i just wish there was someone supervising them.

Paul still does not listen. But I don't expect much from someone like him. He would not answer any question directed at him. Let alone the fact I told him we have no gas lines on our complex or that the process is not capable of causing any damage but to his gopher friends. The fact that the utilities we do have run through a trail in the woods so I am well aware of their location plus the fact that they and are marked anyway due to construction going on the property. that there are no kids, The fact I have a spotter. Or the fact that this work is being done at the request of my employer who purchased the Rodenator. All these facts are going over his head.

what has gone flying over mark's head here is that ocean county is still in a drought and the risk of wildfires is high. people are being warned not to throw lit cigarettes out of their car windows and this nut is using a flamethrower in the dry woods

The written law protects the criminals like they were the victims.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
OCEAN COUNTY OFFICIALS CONDONE CHILD
ABUSE , KIDNAPPING & EXTORTION
It's just business as usual . The indifference of Ocean County Family
Judge Patricia Roe & Marlene Lynch Ford reaches all the way to N.C.
North Carolina resident angry over the lack of action by the N.J. Ocean County
Prosecutor Marlene Lynch Ford.
Not only is it infuriating , it 's a sad state of affairs.
When people in power, who are supposed to enforce the law, won't even uphold
it. I guess it really is a selective process for them. The children apparently don't
matter or take the priority that they should.
What's the point of these laws? Asks Liz Radmore of North Carolina.
You can be sure that if this was their child being abused , kidnapped and kept
from them , there would be some action.” Someone would most definetely be in
jail right now.” Says Radmore.
The Forked River father has violated the law and the orders of the court.
The court orders gave joint custody to both parents. It was supposed to be set up
that the child would have alternating weekends with his Mother & two other
brothers. That didn't happen.
This has gone on since the divorce was finalized in 1998. There is no statue of
limitations on Kidnapping.

When Mom would attempt to exercise her visitation rights. She was arrested.
Then dragged off in handcuffs from her child's soccer game. Even though she was
well within her rights to be there & remained at the required distance away. The
incident severely traumatized the child, his siblings and his Mother. Several
monthes before the arrest , the Mother and all three of the children were forced to
live at The Providence House in Toms River. A shelter for abused women &
children. The father had obtained a restraining order as retaliation for revealing
the abuse. He lied, in fact it took several attempts to get the order because he was
lying , and it was obvious. That is until officials realized that there was a
prominent family name involved. “That was a game changer “says Radmore. All
the Father had to do then was to call in a few favors , and throw around some cash
& few threats. The already corrupt Ocean County was happy to oblige.
All at the expense of the kids involved.

Many attempts were made by the Mom to have the court orders enforced. She was
met with further arrests and threats. On one occasion Police were called to
supervise what was supposed to be scheduled visiting time . When the Police
arrived they informed Mom that “they don't have to enforce court orders”,
There was a lot of back slapping & reminiscing , as it turns out the officers went to
school with Dad.
Every time the court was notified and/or motioned about what was happening ,
they disregarded it.
On the rare occasion that the judge would grant something in favor of the Mother
or in the best interest of the children. It would look good on paper. But nothing
ever materialized. The kids never got to see each other. The youngest child was
literally ripped out of his life , seperated from his Mother , his brothers and all of
his maternal family. This is one of the highest forms of abuse.
It continues to affect all of their lives.
If the severe emotional trauma wasn't enough, then Ocean County would once
again be happy to oblige. This time they would attack the very foundation of the
Children, the finances.
To further exasburate things, the Mother was ordered to pay a large amount of
child support.
Editors note: (The Father makes a six figure salary . Currently Mothers obligation due to
arrearages &interest is close to fifty thousand)
When the Mother became increasingly Ill & could no longer work she began
collecting Disability.

Once again the motions to the court requesting a decrease
was denied. The court then increased her support obligation to the point of
homelessness.
This situation is by no means an isolated occurance.
It's happening all over the U.S. The consequences are enormous. Any child who
suffers from severe trauma like this , never functions as a normal adult. They
simply can't. The professionals all agree. The child will always feel like they are
at fault or that the other parent doesn't want them. Therefore they must be unloved
or unwanted. This carries on with them through adulthood. Affecting every
possible area of life from personal intimate relationships, into their work life &
beyond.

The most recent hearing was in March on a motion that the Mother filed. In which
she requested seven items. Judge Roe granted only one. main problems
with that. One is that the Father still refuses to furnish any contact info, and
secondly by now the child surely feels abandoned by his Mother.
Editors note: child currently attends college via scholarships
The corruption is so rampant and widespread in Ocean County that there are
widely popular blog sites dedicated exclusively to it. Some posters are even
suggesting class action lawsuits. Stating that Civil Rights are being violated.
“I agree completely” states Radmore. “This is long overdue & it's time for the
children to be priority one”. It's something the ACLU should be alerted to &
actively investigating.
Many of our policy makers work hard to get bills passed & put into action. They
are meant to protect the citizens. Ecspecially our children, they are the helpless
ones here.
“We have to be vocal for them, they are our future” says Radmore.
What does it say about us as a nation when the very leaders that put into power for
us, on our behalf continually turns a blind eye?
“It's sickening really “ says Radmore.” I personally know of at least three
children's lives that are forever changed & broken because of this”.
On May 9th 2012 Certified letters were received by both women. Calling for them
to take action. Neither one of them would even acknowledge that they received the
letters

@ Get involved... What you are looking for are answers and a quick break down of liz's testimony. That is impossible unless you have a verbal conversation with the victim. testimonies shared are from the years and years of abuse on government and judicial corruption. either take the time to research herstory further for answers, or wait for the movie set to be out next june. when I say research that means contact her abusers personally and ask questions? And see what you come up with. all testimonies have proper documentation and evidence handed to those connected with Lawless America

The bottom line is the corrupt officials also use these forums as well as their friends... causing division and using it as a platform to campaign. disagreement and arguments are moot contingent upon a fact, evidence and documentation already handed in, which has prompted an investigation already. many federal lawsuits have already been filed under section 1983 by victims at the direction of the civil rights attorney working with this the vast group. Two elected officials and attorneys have come forward to be filmed. better known as whistleblowers. many people do not understand what is really in store, but will soon find out.
