Trash and recycling collection are normal this week in Point Borough, because the town's private contractor picked up trash and recycling on Columbus Day.

However, there was no collection of trash or recycling today in Point Beach on Columbus Day.

All branches of the Ocean County library were open on Columbus Day.

Point Borough and Point Beach municipal offices and post offices were closed. Other closures on Columbus Day were:

• All Ocean County facilities other than parks
• The Motor Vehicle Commission offices, inspection stations and testing centers
