As a parent who lost a daughter on September the 11th, 2001, my family remains connected to the events of that day, and to the issues which continue to affect our lives even after 11 years.
Some issues may never be resolved to the satisfaction of all, some are viewed as being an injustice, which may never be corrected, but should not be forgotten, and others are symbolic of the events of that day, and should be remembered .
One such symbol is the sphere which survived the attack, and should be placed back at the site which for many will always be known as "Ground Zero".
Its placement at the memorial site, will aid in conveying to all future generations an understanding what once stood there and was destroyed.
It will be a silent guardian over the names which now surround the reflective pools where the towers rose to the New York skyline.
Michael Burke is the brother of William (Billy) Burke, Captain of Engine 21 who perished that day, Michael has a mission regarding the sphere.
Michael has made it a mission to return the sphere to a place of honor at the September 11th Memorial site. Please sign the petition and share it with your family, friends, and all who seek to honor those lost that day. It is important that the residents of New Jersey and all Americans have the opportunity to learn of this cause and make their voices known.
The Petition can be signed here:

Thanks, Mr. Meehan! Scores of 9/11 families and survivors and downtown residents have signed petitions to return the Sphere. Over 7200 have signed my other online petition which has ceased to accept signatures so please use link above and make your voice and support heard. Recently Port Authority Director Patrick Foye called for Sphere's return; and Community Bd 1 - downtown - chairperson also has. NYS and NYC elected officials have. The only thing blocking it is the memorial Foundation. The Sphere will eventually be moved from Battery Park. It's return home would be great moment of rebirth, rememberance and triumph. Thanks for your support!

My mother worked in world trade 7. As a kid back in the 80's, I remember the Sphere shooting water into the sky almost as high as my mothers floor. It's good to see it survived the attacks. I forgot about it until I saw this picture. Nice memory related to a horrific event.
