By attending a Substitute Teacher Training Institute, School Relations at Ocean County College can help you prepare to become a substitute teacher in just two days!  This 12-hour training seminar helps prospective substitute teachers prepare for a smooth entrance into the classroom.

The seminar is held on two consecutive days: Friday, May 18 from 3:30 to 9:30 p.m. and Saturday, May 19 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Room 17, Library (Building #3), OCC Main Campus, College Drive, Toms River.  Registration Deadline: May 11.

To qualify to become a substitute teacher, candidates must hold a minimum of 60 college credits (official transcript), successfully undergo a criminal background check, and provide evidence of a negative Mantoux test.

Cost: $200.  Purchase textbook (approx. $10) at OCC Bookstore prior to first session.

Ocean County College (OCC) is an accredited county college in Toms River approved by the New Jersey Commission on Higher Education. OCC is a public two-year college.

Degree programs include Associate in Arts (A.A.), Associate in Science (A.S.), and Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.). The OCC Class of 2010 consisted of 1,431 associates degrees awarded. Approximately 80% of graduates transfer to four-year institution.

The tuition for county residents is $94.00/semester hour. The tuition for out-of-county residents is $126.00/semester hour. Tuition is subject to change.

The school is a member of the following organizations: American Association of Community and Junior Colleges, American Council on Education, American Association for Paralegal Education, Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, New Jersey Association of Colleges and Universities, and New Jersey Council of County Colleges.

Students can also continue their education on the OCC campus by pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree through the OCC/Kean University Partnership. This partnership allows students to complete the upper division courses required for a Kean University undergraduate or graduate degree program.
