Bring Toiletries to Point Boro Earth Day on Sat.

Girl Scouts collecting personal care items for sex assault victims

 

The public is encouraged to bring new personal care items to Point Pleasant Borough's Earth Day at Riverfront Park on Saturday.

Girl Scout Troop 71 will have a booth at the annual Earth Day event and will collect personal care items to give to victims of sexual assault who are treated in hospital emergency rooms throughout Ocean County.

The collection, which is sponsored by the county Advisory Commission on the Status of Women, will assist the county Prosecutor's Office Special Victims' Unit, Sexual Assault Response Team (SART).  

The SART members are available to offer victims of sexual assault comprehensive, compassionate, and victim-centered care.

The following NEW TRAVEL SIZE items are needed: body wash, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste, combs, brushes and mouthwash.

Girl Scouts will also sell cookies at $4 per box, with part of the proceeds helping the local troop.
