Point Boro Council Discredits ‘Mayor Newsletter’ Passed Out To Residents

Point Pleasant Boro Council members discredited a "Mayor Newsletter" Tuesday that was apparently distributed to residents.

Councilwoman Toni DePaola said the newsletter has been circulating through the borough. DePaola discredited the authority of the newsletter, and said she was alarmed to see the Point Pleasant Boro logo and lettering on the publication.

DePaola assured the public that the newsletter was not sent from the borough and did not contain official borough information.  According to DePaola, an outside committee distributed the newsletters to residents.

DePaola claimed that George Cevasco, chairman of the Brick Township Municipal Utility Authority, was involved in the distribution of the publication.  DePaola also stated that Manchester Mayor Michael Fressola has engaged in similar practices in his township.

The councilwoman said the actions could violate local ethics law, and requested the borough clerk look into the matter.
