UPDATE: Festival of the Sea Draws Crowds to Point Beach

Event, which continues until 7 p.m. today, features live entertainment and a wine garden.

Brick resident Eileen Senior has been coming to the Festival of the Sea in Point Pleasant Beach for years.

Asked what keeps her coming back, she didn't hesitate - "the food," she said, digging into her fish and chips. She was one of hundreds that attended the event yesterday.

The event, hosted by the Point Pleasant Beach Chamber of Commerce, is a street fair located in the heart of downtown Point Pleasant Beach, on Arnold and Bay avenues, where visitors sampled dishes by  the area’s finest restaurants, from clam chowder to lobster rolls to steak.

Also, the event featured:

  • arts and crafts;
  • a wine garden;
  • plenty of tables available so visitors can sit, eat and enjoy the live bands, including oldies, rock, folk and other types of music.

The festival is one of the recipients of the American Business Association’s “The Top 100 events in North America."
