Hoffman's Ice Cream in Point Beach Competes in Dessert Wars

For the first time, local bakeries, restaurants and caterers will battle to see whose desserts really take the cake.

Branches Catering, at 123 Monmouth Rd., West Long Branch, will host Dessert Wars  at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

The event will feature 17 bakers and ice cream proprietors from Monmouth and Ocean counties competing. There will be a people's choice award and a judge's award given to the eateries that know best how to concoct the sweet stuff.

Tickets to the event are $5 each.  Those who participate won't feel as bad eating all those sweets knowing that a portion of the proceeds will benefit the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties.

• Vintner's Circle - Middletown
• West End Confectioners
• Ye Olde Pie Shoppe - Little Silver
