Local Drop Off Locations for FoodBank Donations Announced
Drop off locations in Point and Brick.
The holiday season is here and the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties needs community support to provide hope for families in need. Donations of food and money are needed to deliver holiday meals to more than 127,000 people - working poor families and individuals, children, low-income seniors, the disabled and others who face hunger in our communities.
The FoodBank distributed a record 8.5 million pounds of food last year. This year the need for emergency food is very high, as people face the lingering effects of the economic crisis, the financial impact of Hurricane Sandy and the recently implemented cuts in food stamp (SNAP) benefits.
“This holiday season, we’re counting on the generosity of the community to help us meet the increased need for food,” says Carlos M. Rodriguez, executive director of the FoodBank. “Many of our neighbors are still struggling to recover from Hurricane Sandy, and the need remains high throughout Monmouth and Ocean counties.”
