Point Beach One of Many Fireworks-Watching Spots

Jenkinson's will have fireworks on July 4, with many surrounding towns having them on or near the holiday

Point Pleasant Beach is one of many places to see fireworks on or near the Fourth of July.

Jenkinson's, 300 Ocean Ave., plans to set the sky ablaze starting at 9 p.m. tonight, as one of its weekly Thursday night fireworks shows, and again on July 4th.

Crowds swarm for the July 4th event, so get to town way ahead of time. For more information, call (732) 892-0600.

ASBURY PARK

The 8th Annual City of Asbury Park Fourth of July Parade will be held at 1 p.m. Monday. The parade starts at Cookman and Grand Avenue and continues down Main Street onto Fifth Ave. to Ocean Avenue. The reviewing stand will be on Fifth Avenue between Kingsley and Ocean Avenues, and the judges will be there to choose the best entries in various categories.

There will be a wide variety of bands including the Hegeman String Band from Philadelphia and the American Celts Pipe and Drums. Additional attractions for the kids will be located in Bradley Park.

There will be fireworks at the 2nd and 4th avenue beaches around 9:30 p.m.

BARNEGAT

Barnegat Township will celebrate July 4 with a 7:30 p.m. bayfront concert at the municipal dock, 411 E. Bay Ave., followed by a fireworks display at dusk.

BEACHWOOD

Fireworks will begin at 8:45 p.m. July 4 at the Bayside Avenue beach front, although they're visible along the river banks. For more information, call 732-286-6000, ext. 200.

BELMAR

Those visiting Belmar on July 8 can watch fireworks at 6th and Ocean Avenue. In the event of rain, the display will be held July 9.

BRADLEY BEACH

Bradley Beach will celebrate starting at 7 p.m. July 3 with DJ Joey V at the Bradley Beach gazebo on Ocean Avenue. Fireworks will follow at 9 p.m., with a July 4 rain date.

BRICK

Brick Township will celebrate the holiday early with a concert at Windward Beach at 6 p.m. June 30 featuring Jimmy and the Parrots, a Jimmy Buffet tribute band. Fireworks begin at dusk.

LACEY

Lacey will celebrate fireworks early with a display at 7:30 p.m. July 3 at Lacey Township High School. Attendees are urged to bring their own chairs to the party, which will feature DJ Mike spinning songs. The rain date is July 5.

LONG BEACH ISLAND

Beach Haven's popular fireworks display over the bay takes place at 9 p.m. July 4. The show can be viewed from the end of Taylor Avenue. On the north end of the island, catch the Barnegat Light Independence Day celebration on July 3. A parade begins at 7 p.m. at 16th Street, followed by a concert at the dock between 9th and 10th streets. For more information on Barnegat Light's events, call 609-494-9196.

LONG BRANCH

The city will enjoy Oceanfest from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. July 4, featuring fireworks, crafters, food and music. Located on the promenade between Ocean Place Resort & Spa and Seven Presidents Park, fireworks will light up the sky at 9 p.m. after a day that will include bands, clowns, face painters, balloon artists and more.

MANASQUAN

Manasquan has numerous events planned for July 2, starting with a patriotic bicycle decorating contest at 5 p.m. at the Manasquan-Brielle Little League Field. Line-up is at 6:15 p.m. for the bicycle parade, according to the Manasquan web site.There will be a concert by Billy Lawlor at 7:30 p.m. at Main Beach. Fireworks follow at dusk. Rain date is July 3.

MANCHESTER

Manchester will celebrate the Independence Day weekend with music starting at 6 p.m. July 2 at Harry Wright Lake in Whiting. Nicholas King and the Fabulous Grease Band will entertain the crowd, with fireworks to follow. Call 732-657-8121 for more information about the free event.

Nearby Lakehurst also will celebrate with a parade at 11 a.m. through downtown and fireworks at dusk at Lake Horicon Park.

OCEAN GROVE

Ocean Grove will celebrate with a parade at 10:30 a.m. July 2 and a concert at 7:30 p.m. at the Great Tabernacle, 22 Pilgrim Pathway. The Ocean Grover Summer Band, directed by Harry Eichhorn, will perform patriotic tunes.

SEASIDE HEIGHTS

Fireworks will be visible anywhere on the Seaside Heights boardwalk starting at 9:30 p.m. July 4. The borough also sets off fireworks every Wednesday at 9:30 p.m.

WALL

Wall will celebrate all weekend with the Wall Fair, a three-day event starting July 1 featuring rides, food, live entertainment and more at the municipal complex, 2700 Allaire Road. Fireworks will conclude the fun at dusk July 3.

WEST LONG BRANCH

The borough will put on a fireworks display on Independence Day that was initially in danger of being canceled. Late action by the Borough Council has preserved the event, which will occur at dusk at Franklin Lake. Country music act After the Reign will perform after the fireworks, which have a July 9 rain date.
