Point Beach To Add New Fire-Rescue Vehicle

Point Pleasant Beach’s fire department will add a new, $430,581.13 fire rescue vehicle to its fleet.

Kyle Grace, the former fire chief, said the department and Borough Council have spent six or seven months researching what vehicle to add to the fleet and he urged a quick approval to obtain the vehicle, which will be funded by a bond.

Grace said the fire department recently responded to a motor vehicle accident and it was “under-equipped” for the call.  Two weeks ago, fire department officials said that the department’s equipment had been subjected to a lot of stresses, including a massive fire at Seaside Heights in September.

The borough is purchasing the vehicle from Pierce Manufacturing. The council unanimously adopted the ordinance to borrow up to $455,000 for the purchase.
