UPDATE: Praise for Police, School Administrators After Point Manhunt and Lockdown

Business owner said police did an "excellent job" of protecting the area.

People throughout the Point community had high praise for emergency officials and school administrators for keeping the community safe during a manhunt and lockdown that ended when Robert F. Terry III shot himself.

Terry, a 32-year-old Port Monmouth man, was allegedly involved in a domestic violence incident in Brick before grabbing a cab to Point Beach, climbing onto a downtown roof and shooting himself, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor's office.

As police searched for Terry Wednesday morning, all public schools in Point Borough and Point Beach were put on lock down for about an hour.

Overall, several members of the community expressed gratitude for the measures taken to keep the community safe.

On Joe Leone's Facebook page, the message read: "We would like everyone to know that all 47 employees at our Point Pleasant Beach location are safe and back to work after the unfortunate incident that took place this morning.

We would also like to take the time to thank the law enforcement officers of Point Pleasant Beach, Point Pleasant Boro, Brick and Bay Head as well as the SWAT team, Prosecutor's Office and Sheriff's Department for all of their help this morning.

They did an excellent job of protecting the local area as well as our team members here at Joe Leone's. Thank you for keeping us all safe, especially our schools and children."

The gratitude continued over at the Harold Antrim Elementary School, where, in the video above, parents, who were waiting to pick up their children from school  today told Patch they were pleased with school administrators' handling of the incident.
