Point-Pleasant-Born Todd Frazier Named To All-Star Team For First Time

A Major League Baseball release showed that the Cincinnati Reds third-basemen was named as a reserve for the National League team in the June 15 "mid-summer classic."

Toms River native, Little League world champion and Point-Pleasant-born Todd Frazier was named to his first All-Star Game this weekend.

A Major League Baseball release showed that the Cincinnati Reds third-basemen was named as a reserve for the National League team in the June 15 "mid-summer classic."

Frazier's roots in the Jersey Shore go deep. He was born in Point Pleasant and was profiled in a recent ESPN video highlighting the Major League Baseball star's efforts to help his hometown recover from Hurricane Sandy.

"It all comes full circle, Toms River to Rutgers to Cincinnati. I am very blessed," Frazier said in a text message to The Asbury Park Press.

The Cincinnati Reds third baseman toured devastated areas around Toms River and Seaside Heights and aids in the recovery effort by collecting goods in the "Todd Frazier: Jersey Strong" video.

"When push comes to shove, we're there. We've got each other's backs," he says in the video.

Frazier, who in 1998 helped Toms River's Little League team win the World Championship, still has a home in town, according to the video.

An emotional former Toms River Police Cheif Michael Mastronardy, now Ocean County sheriff, appears in the video and praises the baseball player's efforts.

"It's more about what's in your heart than what you do on the field," the chief says.

He grew up in Toms River. He was on a Toms River League. Who cares that he was born in Pt. Pleasant. They should get no credit and stop grasping for straws.

Yep, he's from Toms River. A true local athlete success story.
