Tornado Watch in Effect Until 5 P.M.

A watch indicates the potential for development of a tornado.

Written by Patch Editor Douglas Bergen

The National Weather Service issued a tornado watch for Ocean County until 5 p.m. Monday (Oct. 7).

A "watch" indicates the potential for development of a tornado — a "warning" means a tornado is occurring somewhere nearby or imminent.

The forecast calls for moderate to heavy rainfall from Monday afternoon into Monday evening with the potential for flooding in areas of poor drainage. Scattered thunderstorms could bring strong or severe wind gusts and possibly a tornado.

Steady northeast winds throughout the rest of the week could cause minor tidal flooding toward the weekend.
