TRAFFIC: The Slow Summer Snarls Near Point Pleasant Beach

Every summer weekend, the traffic heading to, or from, Point Pleasant Beach typically is bumper-to-bumper and moving at a crawl between the Garden State Parkway and the beaches.

Typically, you should anticipate up to a half hour, or more, to travel between the area and the Garden State Parkway.

I found that taking the back-roads in point beach (bay ave/arnold ave/river ave) to get to 35 was just as crazy as taking 35. The arnold ave drivers were not letting anyone in from arnold ave and it was difficult to cut over 35 south to get to 35 north. This might have just been the case due to it being MDW but it will be interesting to see if every weekend is like this or if it was just this once.

There should be no traffic. Reading comments on Patch from the local "experts", no one is going to come here because parking costs too much, the boardwalk is a ripoff, rentals are all barren, and everyone hates the tourists. and yet...bumper to bumper traffic and crowds all over the place. Imagine that.
