Santa Will Be at Cabin Again on Sunday

Santa, trains and cookies at cabin at Riverfront Park

Santa Claus will be at the Bennett Cabin at Riverfront Park from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Children can sit on Santa's lap, have their photos taken by their parents and tell Santa what they want for Christmas at the historic cabin, decked out in full holiday decor, complete with trains running around the Christmas tree.

The train area is twice as big as last year's. And, this year, Santa has a quieter, larger room to have that quality, one-on-one time with the children. And there's room for Mrs. Claus to sit right next to him.

"Visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus and enjoy his trains, antique dolls and a display by Rudolph," says the Point Pleasant Borough Chamber of Commerce, which is sponsoring the event and serving hot chocolate and homemade cookies.

Richard Morris and Ed Lavan, who led the effort to rebuild, renovate and preserve the Bennett family cabin, had started the event last year, when high school band students played for visiting families.

Santa was also at the cabin yesterday. This is the second consecutive year the event is being held.

Can anybody comment on Santa this year? Last year he was a little too obvious (netting of his beard showed and he had trouble hearing the kids) and my sweeties made us go find the "real" Santa later that week.
