Point Pleasant Borough Earth Day Celebration

The Point Pleasant Borough Environmental Commission is excited to announce that the 2012 Earth Day Celebration will be held at Riverfront Park.  The event will be held on April 21st from 12pm to 4pm (raindate is April 22).  This is the 9th Earth Day Celebration hosted by the Borough's Environmental Commission and the Commission is expecting a great turnout.  The event showcases vendors of green products/ideas, environmental organizations, and local businesses.  There will be games and rides for the kids as well as food and music for all.

The theme for this year's 4th and 5th Grade T-shirt poster contest is “Strive to be Mosquito Free”, concentrating on what to do at home to safely control mosquitoes.  The focal point for this year's Earth Day theme will be to teach the uses of alternative methods for mosquito control and to stress that 'Mosquito Control Starts at Home'.  Using biological products along with natural predators and source reduction to reduce mosquito populations in your neighborhood instead of the use of traditional pesticides is more environmentally friendly and equally as effective when considering the harm those traditional pesticides can have on the plants and animals.

The Commission is accepting applications for all exhibitors until April 6th and is always looking for volunteers, sponsors and donations.  Exhibitor and sponsor applications are located at   http://www.env.ptboro.com/ed/.
