Second Jazz and Blues Concert Tonight at Point Boro's Riverfront Park

Swingadelic to perform at free event

“Swingadelic with Gina Fox” will perform from 7 to 9 tonight at Point Borough's Riverfront Park on River Road.

The event will be held rain or shine (barring lightning).

This is the second jazz concert of the summer in the borough. The first was on Aug. 4.

Mayor William Schroeder and his neighbor, resident Frank Pagano, began planning the concerts after discussing how to optimize use of the borough’s newest park for entertainment.

Pagano has spearheaded the organization of this year’s events. He sought information and advice from the Jersey Shore Jazz and Blues Foundation, a non-profit group located in Red Bank.

Schroeder has said the cost of the two concerts, including set-up, clean-up and security, will be borne by event sponsorship fees.

The bands use a movable stage owned by Ocean County. The stage is also used at Point Pleasant Beach’s annual Seafood Festival.

The concert will take place on the center field of the park. Various food and product vendors will be set up along the perimeter of the field.

J.E. Thomson Design Group of Toms River, working pro-bono, designed signs for the events.
