The range of advanced placement courses offered at Point Pleasant Beach High School continues to expand, and the Board of Education recently approved additional courses for high school and Ocean County College credit for the new year.

The courses - which are for those students enrolling and accepted by OCC - include: AP US History, Biology, Sociology, Philosphy, Public Speaking, Italian ! and II, AP English III, U.S. Military History, Western Civilization I and II, and Anatomy and Physiology.

These courses join the roster of AP courses currently offered at Point, including Music Theory, English Language, Government, History, Calculus, Biology and Spanish, according to board officials.

Superintendent John A. Ravally said at the recently-held meeting that there were 47 AP students in the school as of last year. The largest number of AP tests taken last year were in Calculus, followed by English literature and Biology.
